W. Raiffeisen (1818-1888), one of the most important social reformers in the 19th century The original goal was to provide basic banking services to the rural population based on cooperative principles Only ten years after foundation of the first Raiffeisenkasse (Lower Austria) in 1886, 600 banks were operating according to the Raiffeisen system F.W. Raiffeisen Those local cooperatives formed Raiffeisen Regional Banks like RLB Niederösterreich-Wien (founded in 1898) at provincial level and RZB in 1927 at federal level1) The Raiffeisen idea has proven to be timeless: Raiffeisen is still a politically neutral and financially independent banking sector within Austria The "Gable Cross" The unique trade mark is the so-called "gable cross" – a symbol of protection and cooperation 1) See also "Three tier strucure" of Austrian Raiffeisen Banking Group p.7 Company Presentation RLB NW_2013 4 Today, the Raiffeisen Banking Group is the most important financial service provider in Austria Total Assets [EUR bn] Key Data (2012) 1) 1) 270 260 292 Total assets: 291.5 bn EUR 205 Total Equity: 23.6 bn EUR 4 mn customers 502 banks 2,199 domestic outlets 2006 2009 2011 2012 Market share of Raiffeisen by Product 12/2012 [%] 26,1% 29,8% Group Participations 32,4% Domestic market share of approx. 30% 4 mn customers, 1.7 mn members, 25,000 employees served in 502 banks with 1,697 branches Approx. 88 bn EUR domestic customer deposits and 51 bn EUR domestic savings deposits Highest safety net – customer guarantee association members 100% of deposits insured Fully integrated financial service & IT provider Domestic Loans Domestic Deposits Saving Deposits 1) Legally not consolidated Source: RZB Annual Report 2012, Specialized Raiffeisen companies not included Company Presentation RLB NW_2013 5 Overview over the Austrian Banking Market (by total assets) Total Assets * Total Net Profit * after tax [EUR bn/FY2012] [EUR mn/FY2012] Rating [Moody's] Raiffeisen Banking Group1) 291.5 1) Erste Bank Group2) 213.8 631 A3 Unicredit Bank Austria Group 207.6 460 A3 RZB Group (RZB+Raiffeisen Bank International)3) 146.0 631 A3 (RZB) / A2 (RBI) Bawag/PSK Group 41.3 136 Baa2 RLB Oberösterreich Group 39.8 95 A1/C- Hypo Group Alpe Adria 33.8 3 not rated RLB Niederösterreich-Wien Group 32.3 23 A1/C- OeVAG Group 27.7 341 Baa3 Oberbank 17.7 109 not rated RLB Steiermark Group 15.0 1 A1/C- Hypo Landesbank Vorarlberg 14.5 5 A1/D+ 1) 2) Legally not consolidated (FY11) 2) incl.
