Coloured, illustrated original half cloth binding. 2200,This beautiful 'Anschauungs-Bilderbuch' (contemplation picture-book) is in some way a successor of the 'Orbis pictus' and influenced by Schreiber's 'Bilder zum Anschauungsunterricht für die Jugend'. The coloured plates, each with many illustrations, are specially remarkable for its images of different professions like gardener, hunter, baker, butcher, shoe-maker, tailor, bricklayer, stone-mason, carpenter, weaver, blacksmith, saddler and many others. The other plates show different animals, flowers, articles of food, tools, furniture, different landscapes, weather etc. - Same plates in the white margins a bit creased; covers a bit creased, edges rubbed. - Rare. 4 Arp, Hans. The plates show designs for furniture, carpets, tiles, wall-carpets, floor covering etc. which show in there variants and colour fullness the master of the 'Jugendstil'. The most thought after volume of this series. - The first three and most important volumes of this series - the later volumes are without 'Jugenstil' designs - in almost perfect condition and complete, since many of this volumes have been taken apart and the lithographs sold individually. Bound as a block book, edges in silver, housed in an halfcalf box, laid out with black silk. 9500,Extremely rare and beautiful picture-book of the "Neuen Sachlichkeit", done by the advertising designer from Fürstenberg, Carl Ernst Hinkefuss, who worked many years for the Bauhaus, also co-founder of the Wilhelmwerk design group, founder of the magazine Qualität and owner of the Dünnhaupt printing office. The high quality of Hinkefuss' designs gained much respect, namely by H. van de Velde, Bruno Taut, Walter Gropius, Behrens, Pazaurek and others. This exemplary book from the twenties in form of printing techniques and graphic design. Printed entirely on black matte paper and printed in fifteen colours (including metallic silver).While this was conceived as an illustrated book to show children a wonderful variety of exotic birds, its design elevates it to the level of modernist graphic art. The block is in perfect state of preservation and 'ready to print'. Berthold Löffler born 1874 was one of the most famous artist of the Vienna Secession. He was professor at the Viennese handicraft school from 1907 till 1955. He worked also for the Wiener Werkstätte, designed ceramics, textiles interior design for the famous Cabaret Fledermaus in Vienna and for the Palais Stoclet in Brussels.
