What happens if you do not pay? Your insurance premium is a monthly premium. It is based on the selected tariff and period. Please note that, in the case of contractual periods of more than 18 months, the premium will be increased from the 19th month. For the current premiums, please see the following list. You can find the exact premium for the respective cover in that list. The first or single premium is due when the contract begins. Cover begins at the earliest from payment of the premium. If the amount of the first or single premium is not paid on or before the due date, the insurer providing cover is entitled to withdraw from the contract unless you are not responsible for non-payment. If you fail to pay one or several subsequent premiums after being called on to do so by a certain date by the insurer providing cover, the insurer is entitled to terminate the insurance contract. Please see the Terms and Conditions of Insurance for further details (§ 3, Teil A, Allgemeine Bedingungen der vereinbarten Versicherungsbedingungen). Examples of insured events that are generally not insured are events in which the policyholder or insured person wilfully caused the insured event, the insured event is caused by foreseeable acts of war or civil unrest or in which the policyholder or insured person attempt to fraudulently misrepresent the circumstances that are of significance with regard to the reason for or amount of the benefit. In addition, there is no cover in particular - for treatment abroad, which was at least also a reason for the start of the journey, - for addiction treatment or cures, - for hypnosis, psychoanalytical or psychotherapeutic treatment, - for treatment or accommodation due to infirmity, need for nursing care or custody and - for organ donations and their consequences. You will find full details on the limitations of cover in the Terms and Conditions of Insurance (§ 6, Teil A: Allgemeine Bedingungen der vereinbarten Versicherungsbedingungen). Duties (obligations) to be complied with: What obligations arise at the time of conclusion of contract? At the time of conclusion of contract you must have disclosed all information fully and truly. If you fail to do so, your insurance cover is endangered! What obligations do you have to fulfil if an event covered by the insurance occurs? Make sure that the damage incurred remains as small as possible! Avoid everything that might lead to an unnecessary increase in costs. Notify HanseMerkur immediately about the damage incurred. For further obligations, please refer to “Obligations” in the Terms and Conditions of Insurance (§ 7, Teil A: Allgemeine Bedingungen der vereinbarten Versicherungsbedingungen). What are the legal consequences if you fail to meet your obligations? Very important: If you violate your obligations, HanseMerkur is entitled to reduce the benefits due by an amount corresponding to the gravity of the violation. This can even lead to a complete loss of insurance cover. For more details in this connection, see the Terms and Conditions of Insurance (“Obligations” and “Violation of Obligations” § 7 III, Teil A: Allgemeine Bedingungen).
