Drewes About the topics Topics for master theses are provided either by our chair or in external cooperation. Internal topics will be carried as research topics related to our present research projects as either experimental or detailed literature work. Considering external topics the chair will provide academic guidance. Topics acquired by students are welcome as long as they fit into the field of urban water engineering. General information about external theses are provided here. General hints… …considering time and work load Topics are offered in winter and summer terms An up-to-date list of topics can be found here The thesis has to be written within 6 months from registration date As 1 Credit accounts for 30 working hours we expect 30 x 30 Stunden = 900 hours of work load accounting for 6,5 h/day …considering the registration Registration forms have to be brought in by the students. There are exceptions for forms of civil and environmental engineering which are provided by the chair. The forms are available at the examination offices of the particular faculties …considering practical work Lab experience is helpful, but not necessary Experimental work requires a safety introduction organized by your supervisor Safety gear and clothing is mandatory and will be provided by the institute. For data processing and evaluation our computer pool is available Literature can be found besides next to the TUM libraries in our institute’s library as well TUM · Lehrstuhl für Siedlungswasserwirtschaft · Am Coulombwall · D - 85748 Garching Telefon: +49 (0)89/289-1 37 01 · Telefax: +49 (0)89/289-1 37 18 · E-mail: sww@tum.de · www.sww.bgu.tum.de Chair of Urban Water Systems Engineering Prof. Dr. Jörg E. Drewes Citation In-text One author […] According to Kroiss (2006) an energy of 159 kWh/(cp*d) can be determined by a specific COD load of 120 g/(cp*d) fort he organic loads in the influent of a WWTP. […] Two authors […] Depending on the chemicals used as well as their amount literature indicates an elimination of 50 to 80 % of COD, 80 to 90 % of suspended solids considering microorganisms in settling tanks (Metcalf und Eddy, 2003). […] Several authors […] The physical processes (sedimentation, flotation, sieving) are an economic possibility to remove particulate matter from wastewater (Schwarz et al., 2007). […] Sets of regulations […] With pre-nitrification and lack of organic carbon the flow can be reduced to 0.5 to 1.0 hours during dry weather periods (DWA A 281, 2003).
