In July 2010 the Technology and Development Center (TEZ) was officially inaugurated at the company's headquarters in Albstadt. On an area covering approximately 25,000 s.qm., it creates the basis for Groz-Beckert to shape the textile future together with machine producers, users and partners. The Groz-Beckert Academy and its users also also benefit in numerous ways from the TEZ – because in addition to alternative training locations near the international textile centers, all training courses can also take place directly in the TEZ. 4 You can find out everything you need to know about your visit to Groz-Beckert on page 32 in the section “Good to Know”. On page 31 you'll find a respective registration form for the Groz-Beckert Academy. Machines close to production, state-of-the-art laboratory environment Auditorium The TEZ in short The Technology and Development Center also contains five Competence Centers including Technical Centers for the most important technologies in textile fabric production. They are equipped with machines and plant technology close to production, whether for process experiments or for prototype and special series production. This broad basis is at the disposal of the Groz-Beckert Academy. The result is a maximum of hands-on practical training for every single course. A special highlight of the TEZ is the generouslydimensioned auditorium. Equipped with simultaneous interpreting cabins and advanced media technology, it offers room for up to 275 guests. Specialist events are held on everything to do with the textile industry and the textile value chain. This proves once more how quickly the Technology and Development Center has become an important platform for knowledge transfer. Next to modern equipped technical laboratories for the textile production and connecting procedures, the Technology and Development center offers on 1,300 s.qm. laboratory area manifold analysis possibilities. An auditorium with 275 seats offers room for special events. Therefore, the TEZ displays a unique platform for the transfer of knowledge around the textile industry and the textile value chain. Furthermore, there is support from a highpowered laboratory at the TEZ, covering a surface area of more than 1,300 square meters. Here, under the heading of “Laboratory Services”, Groz-Beckert realizes diverse services ranging from damage analysis and chemical analysis to materials consulting and development. Highly advanced technologies such as scanning electron microscopy, spectral analysis, metallography or IR spectroscopy are inclusive here. There is more than enough free space for training courses to be held here as part of the Groz-Beckert Academy. 5 Course 100: Textile Value Chain Target group This course is for those who want to acquire a general overview of the textile value chain and the current business sectors of Groz-Beckert. Stadtverwaltung Albstadt P.O.Box 10 01 25, 72422 Albstadt Telephone: +49 7431 160-1205 Fax: +49 7431 160-1227 The region around Albstadt is characterized by the distinctive hilly landscape of the Schwäbische Alb and the Danube valley. The mostly unspoilt natural landscape is not only impressively peaceful, it has fantastic views and also around 2,500 different caves and caverns! Many of these have been adapted for public access, with numerous fascinating and educational features. The famous fortress of Hohenzollern is also located close to Albstadt. It is one of the finest and most-visited fortresses anywhere in Europe. Albstadt’s textile orientation is reflected in many places. One example is Lautlingen a quarter of Albstadt, where Groz-Beckert – in close cooperation with the municipal administration – has built the longest textile reinforced concrete bridge in the world, at 100 meters. It was completed in November 2010 – and ranks as a landmark project in the use of technical textiles. Groz-Beckert took part in development and construction, both technologically and financially. The Maschenmuseum (Knitting Museum) in Albstadt-Tailfingen is also well known far beyond the region. It focuses on the history of the local knitting industry. 33 Groz-Beckert KG Parkweg 2 72458 Albstadt, Germany Phone +49 7431 10-0 Fax +49 7431 10-2777 contact@groz-beckert.com www.groz-beckert.com The depictions provided of our products are not to scale and are intended for illustrative purposes only.
