Within its boundaries are beaches, lakes, mountains, salmon streams, great places to stay, fabulous food, and countless things to see and do. Voted one of the “top 20 Towns in the U.S.” by Outside Magazine, Lincolnville was first settled in 1774 as a farming and fishing community. Over time it has become home to an eclectic mix of people that includes artists, writers, craftsmen, worldclass sailors, boat builders, winemakers, lobstermen, farmers, and just about any other profession you can name. Lincolnville is probably best known for “The Beach” that by reputation is the only stretch of beach sand visible from Route 1, extending from the northern Maine border to Florida. We are centrally located, a few minutes North of Camden/Rockport/Rockland and just South of Belfast. As well, we are a little over an hour by car to Bar Harbor and similar distance to Portland. Truly, Lincolnville Beach has a geographical advantage of being “The Heart of The Maine Coast”. The small Images Joseph A. Corrado 9 Winter months foster colder outdoor activities such as downhill and cross country skiing at the Snow Bowl and Tanglewood, ice fishing on the ponds, skidooing on the local trail network, and a little more vigorous method of getting exercise, snowshoeing. Lincolnville, a small coastal community loaded with history, has something for everybody, year-round. Almost everyone that visits leaves with lasting memories and dreams of their return. Many people do and end up making it their home. Photo: J. Corrado Photo: J. Corrado The community of Lincolnville includes a large portion of Camden Hills State Park, a mountain area with a network of superb hiking trails that offer spectacular views of Penobscot Bay and its many islands. It lives up to its name, literally “Where the Mountains Meet the Sea”. Lincolnville showcases an idealistic rural Maine community that just happens to have the Atlantic Ocean as its boundaries. The inland rural setting of a meandering pastoral country side with beautifully lakes and streams, with abundant swimming, fishing and kayaking opportunities and farmland that hosts organic farms and vineyards for our local winery. Photo: Ben Magro community of shops and eateries hosts visitors from around the world. The waterfront activities, whether it be families swimming, lobstermen unloading their catch of the day or the Islesboro Ferry loading or unloading visitors to the island, just three miles away are part of the daily routine. Great meals, great ambiance and a great vista are part of the beach’s atmosphere. 10 www.LincolnvilleMaine.com Find our local businesses by matching them to their corresponding numbers 7 Belfast B 1 3 Tilden Pond 16 52 131 Du c ktr H Camp Tanglewood ap Riv Pitcher Pond er o ad e Tr u Ro a d R d H rk Rd.
