April 2014 Program – The MetClub is an international organization for cultural, social and educational programs in Stuttgart. – Our modest yearly membership fee entitles members to discounts for cultural/educational program entrance fees. The Club’s lively and active members organize most of the interesting programs themselves. Membership is not required to attend programs - so just join in, we’d like to meet you! Many of us still remember our first Atari or Universitätstr. 38 Stuttgart-Vaihingen Commodore computers, but this museum is home to much older and impressive 'beasts' dating back to the 1950's Come and learn about the forgotten computer pioneers and their attempts to increase • IMPORTANT • memory, or find non-volatile storage capabilities for program code. You can punch your Meeting Place: own code on a punch card and feed it into the machine. We meet on the outbound Museum curator, Mr Krause will demonstrate mechanical calculation machines, the Universität S-Bahn magnetic drum computer LGP30, a punch card machine from IBM as well as a "modern" platform, exit Minicomputer PDP-8 and PDP-11. A table has been booked inside but if the weather is nice, we Grand Cafe Planie have the option to move to a table outside and to enjoy the sun on the leafy front terrace of the cafe. To get there, enter the courtyard of the complex from the side facing the ”Altes Schloss”, turn right to entrance 3 at the round tower in the courtyard corner, go up the stairs to the top floor.
