He launched his consulting and project management firm in September of 1999. His current clients include Decron Management Corporation, CB Richard Ellis, Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau, Northrop Grumman, and MS Aerospace. As Mark approaches the 25-year mark in his professional career, diversity in his field of construction sets him apart from the rest. He has experience in the construction of structural steel and concrete buildings, HVAC, energy and fire sprinkler retrofits. Top “trouble-shooter” for clients whose projects have been running behind projected schedules and way over estimated budgets. Prior to the establishment of Hansen Project Management, Mark served as the Director of Construction for CB Richard Ellis for nine years and subsequently for Grubb & Ellis Management Services for one year. His responsibilities for both corporations encompassed major renovations and tenant improvement projects for the entire western region including the Pacific Corporate Towers in El Segundo, Ca, The Tower in Burbank, Ca, The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and The Sherman Oaks Galleria, South Bay Galleria Theatre Complex and Parking Structure. After settling in the Los Angeles area in 1984, Mark began as a Manager for E.H. Butland Development located in Tarzana, Ca and subsequently became a Construction Manager for Century Pacific Construction in West Los Angeles, Ca. Upon completion of his education at Wits, Mark was employed by GillisMason Civil Engineering in Johannesburg, South Africa where he provided complete engineering and construction management services for major infrastructure projects such as power plants and bridges in Southern Africa. Experience Hansen Project Management • Chevron, El Segundo, California- Provided Owner representation services to fast track project which consisted of 120,000 square foot interior building renovation. Responsibilities included establishing and implementing unit rates to determine the final budget, establishing Chevron's design parameter with respect to the training rooms and standard office layout/design, and establishing the construction scheduling and monitoring schedule. This project was completed within 10 weeks from the start of design to certificate of occupancy, at a total cost of 14 million dollars. • Northrop Grumman, Canoga Park, California- Provided Owner representation services overseeing a 2 million square foot facility renovation and upgrade at a total cost of 8 million dollars. The renovation involved approximately ten distinct projects, preparation of request for proposal and bid documents for each project, solicitation for bids, preparation of bid comparisons, preparation of contracts, and Company Subject Page Hansen Project Management Mark Hansen - CV 2 of 4 interaction with Northrop site staff to ensure smooth transition of each project and avoid disturbance to ongoing research, development and fabrication. • ComChoice, El Segundo, California- Provided Owner representation services including assisting the architects with design programming of a creative space within a very limited budget, implementation of that design with contractor and oversight of the budget, for a 20,000 square foot tenant improvement in a tilt-up facility with a sound compression and recording studio at a total cost of 1 million dollars. • MS Aerospace, Sylmar, California – Provided Owner representation services of a 120,000 square foot tilt-up facility, including 20,000 square foot of tenant improvements and aerospace fasteners machine shop at a total cost of 5 million dollars. Services included preparation of architectural and engineering request for proposals, review and evaluation of design consultant proposals, consultation with client with respect to the layout of the machine shop and production line, oversight of the architect and engineers in the design of the machine shop including mechanical and electrical systems, review of bid documents, administration of bidding process, bid comparison, formulation of construction contract and construction management. • Hustler Casino, Gardena, California- Provided Owner representation services overseeing two project: a 35,000 square foot, two story casino, including kitchen, bars and restaurant at a total cost of 35 million dollars and an addition of 10,000 square foot poker tournament room at a total cost of 3 million dollar. Initially brought by owner's attorney after the two story casino project experienced schedule delays and budget overages to review the design and construction processes and determine cause of delays and budget over runs. The review revealed the architect had unrealistic aspirations with respect to the design, was delaying the project by over design details resulting in increased cost. Additionally, the contractor was not receiving timely answers to field questions and requests for information. Other services included implementation of controls over the design of the project by hiring an executive architect that could make the design decisions in a timely and cost effective manner and. Implementation of a weekly project schedule update that tied all parties to fixed start and finish date for all design and construction activities.The overall capital program for the Casino is in the $30M-$40M range. • 8501 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills- Provided Owner representation services overseeing design and construction of 150 foot retrofit glass canopy, co-ordination of glass shop drawings and structural plans and Company Subject Page Hansen Project Management Mark Hansen - CV 3 of 4 architectural plans. Additionally, the building renovation, including concrete site work, landscaping and stainless steel planters, at a total cost of 4 million dollars. • California National Bank, California- Provided Owner representation services overseeing three free standing bank projects including a 15,000 square foot, two story bank building, at a total cost of 3 million dollars in Rancho Cucamonga, a 5500 square foot bank building, at a total cost of 2 million dollars in Northridge, a 7,500 square foot, type v, bank building, at a total cost of 1 million dollars in Montebello. Responsibilities included assisting the bank with site selection, lease review, purchase agreement, control of design process and implementation of bank requirements in the over interior design, control of exterior design to ensure inclusion of bank's branding tower design and procurement and contractor selection.Responsible for the delivery of a $10M capital program. CBRE • Pacific Corporate Towers, El Segundo, California- As the project manager, overseeing the repositioning of three 1.5 million square foot aerospace buildings to Class A office buildings. The project was undertaken over 5 years in 3 phases. Responsibilities for all facets of design, budgeting and construction and the delivery of a $12M capital program. G&E • Bank of America, Beverly Hills, California – Acting as the agent for the new Barton Meyers office building construction of a 45,000 square foot, type eleven, two story structural steel building with roof parking, at a total cost of 6 million dollars. This complicated project involved building a new 3 story steel and glass building over an existing one story building brick while preserving the bow string truss roof of the existing one story building, and adding roof parking. Gillis Mason Construction • Johannesburg Hotel, Johannesburg, SA- As Site Engineer was responsible for oversight of site construction activities for a 25 store, 600 room luxury hotel including ball room, kitchen, restaurant, bar, lobby, roof top pool. Structure was reinforced concrete. Total cost of the project was 25 million dollars. • Malta Power Plant, Johannesburg, SA- As the site engineer and then project manager provided oversight for site construction activities including grading, structural concrete for the building, turbine blocks Company Subject Page Hansen Project Management Mark Hansen - CV 4 of 4 and turbine houses, and slip forming of concrete boiler house and flues for a 36,000 megawatt power plant. Total cost of the project was 300 million dollars. • Johannesburg, SA- As the project manager was responsible for the onsite coordination and scheduling of a 250,000 square foot cold storage depot rated to -40 Degrees C. Total cost was 100 million dollars. Century Pacific Construction • Woodlake Radisson Hotel, Sacramento, California- As the project manager was responsible for budget and schedule development, procurement of consultants and the general contractor, oversight of design and construction administration of a 400 room low rise convention center and hotel. Total cost was 150 million dollars. TEG/LVI • 1600M South Olive, Los Angeles, California- As project manager, was responsible for the oversight of the design, budgeting, scheduling and bidding for a seismic and sprinkler retro-fit of a 30 story building, including the construction of new concrete storage take in the underground parking lot. Total cost of the project was 10 million dollars.
