Swinburne Sarawak 2012 Scholarship and Financial Aid TERTIARY EDUCATION IS THE BRIDGE TO A BETTER FUTURE At Swinburne Sarawak, we have a system that awards scholarships and financial aid to deserving students. If you have enrolled as a student with the University and have good results in SPM, STPM, UEC or equivalent, you may apply for a scholarship*. Swinburne Sarawak Academic Excellence Scholarship (Foundation Entrance) The Swinburne Sarawak Academic Excellence Scholarship (Foundation Entrance) is awarded to students who are newly enrolled into foundation programs and who had achieved excellent results in SPM and/or GCE ‘O’ Levels or equivalent in the current year. Swinburne Sarawak Pathway Scholarship The Swinburne Sarawak Pathway Scholarship is applicable to graduates of Swinburne Sarawak’s foundation and diploma programs entering into first year degree program. Eligibility The student must maintain a CGPA of 3.7 and above throughout the foundation and diploma program. Value of Award 20% fee waiver each term throughout the duration of the chosen degree program. Criteria n Maintain a CGPA of 3.7 and above throughout the foundation and diploma program whilst not failing any unit. n For the scholarship to progress into the second year, the student must pass all units of study in the first year and attain a CGPA of 3.7 and above. n Continuation of scholarship thereafter is subject to maintanance of no failures and a CGPA of 3.7 or above for the previous term. n The recipient shall maintain a full study load (eight units a year) every term. n Applicable for students who progress from Foundation and Diploma to Degree program in the nearest intake above. PVC Academic Excellence Award The PVC Academic Excellence Award is awarded to foundation, diploma and degree students enrolled from 2011 onwards and who have not received any scholarships from Swinburne Sarawak or other bodies. Eligibility Foundation Level Awarded to Foundation program students who attain at least four high distinctions in all units of study in a full term load. Diploma Level Awarded to Diploma program students who attain at least four high distinctions in all units of study in a full term load. Degree Level Awarded to Degree program students who attain at least four high distinctions in all units of study in a full term load. Value of Award Foundation Level Fee waiver of RM1,000.00 and a certificate of excellence. n Diploma Level Fee waiver of RM1,000.00 and certificate of excellence. n Degree Level Fee waiver of RM2,000.00 and a certificate of excellence. n Criteria Applicable to Foundation, Diploma and Degree students enrolled from 2011 onwards. n Students enrolled before 2011 will continue with the Merit Scholarsip Scheme during the time of their enrollment. n This scholarship will be awarded on a one-off basis. n Swinburne Sarawak Sports and Leadership Award The Sports and Leadership Award is awarded to secondary school leavers who are newly enrolled into a foundation, diploma or degree program and who have excelled academically and/or in co-curricular activities in secondary school. Eligibility This scholarship is awarded to all Secondary/ High school leavers. Awards will be based on actual academic result of the applicant and recommendation by school principal. Value of Award Depending on academic and/or cocurricular activities participated in at: School Level n Up to a maximum of RM1,000.00 State Level n Up to a maximum of RM3,000.00 National Level n Up to a maximum of RM4,000.00 Criteria n Subject to the discretion of Swinburne Sarawak Campus Scholarship Committee. n This scholarship is based on actual academic result of the applicant and recommendation by the applicant’s school principal. Swinburne Sarawak Community Bursary Award General Terms and Conditions for Swinburne scholarship application Eligibility The Community Bursary is applicable for admission into Foundation programs only. Applicants must obtain a minimum 3As in SPM, excel in co-curricular activities and have a letter of recommendation from School Principal. General terms Value of Award 20% fee waiver on total Foundation program fee. Criteria n For Sarawakian students who have graduated from secondary schools in Bau, Lundu, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Kapit, Mukah, Limbang, Lawas and Marudi only. n The bursary will be disbursed equally as program fee rebates in the current and subsequent term. Swinburne Sarawak Alumni Bursary Eligibility The offer of bursary is open to Swinburne Sarawak Alumni who enrolls into one of the postgraduate by coursework programs at Swinburne Sarawak in 2012. Postgraduate programs eligible for this bursary are the Master of Business Administration (International) and Master of Management). Value of Award 15% fee waiver on total postgraduate by coursework program fee. Criteria n The bursary will be given as program fee rebate only and cannot be exchanged for cash. n Swinburne Sarawak reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the award as and when required without prior notice. All decisions of Swinburne Sarawak including those on matters not covered above are final and binding. The following are general terms and conditions that are applicable across the range of scholarships and bursary awards offered by Swinburne Sarawak: 1. The scholarship and bursary are only valid for studies at Swinburne Sarawak. 2. The scholarship and bursary are valid only upon receving an offer of study at Swinburne Sarawak. 3. Only complete applications received by the closing date will be entertained. 4. Scholarship or bursary recipients must continue to study full-time throughout the scholarship award period. 5. The offer of scholarship or bursary shall be based on the official academic results received in a single sitting. 6. The recipient shall maintain a full study load in each term. 7. A student is entitled to only one scholarship or bursary. A student who has been awarded a scholarship and/or bursary by Swinburne Sarawak or any other institution shall not be eligible for another scholarship or bursary. 8. All scholarship awards are to be given as program fee rebate only and cannot be exchanged for cash. 9. The scholarship is non-transferable. 10. The scholarship shall be forfeited if the student withdraws from the program or transfers to Swinburne Australia. 11. The scholarship shall be forfeited if the student fails to abide by the rules and regulations of Swinburne Sarawak. 12. Once the scholarship is forfeited, it shall not be reinstated. 13. Approval must be obtained from the Registrar of Swinburne Sarawak for leave of absence. The scholarship shall recommence once the recipient resumes his/her studies at Swinburne Sarawak. Failure to obtain approval for leave of absence shall result in the forfeiture of the scholarship. 14. Swinburne Sarawak reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the scholarship as and when required without prior notice. All decisions of Swinburne Sarawak including those on matters not covered above are final and binding. Full-time students undertaking degree, masters or doctorate program. Grade B in each subject in STPM or CGPA of 3.00 and above for Foundation students enrolled in degree program and students within the degree program. Excellent academic results and actively involved in co-curricular activities. Must not have been offered other scholarships. Only short-listed candidates will be called for interview. Availability The Tunku Abdul Rahman Scholarship is usually advertised in local newspapers each year from March until end of July. Application procedures n A Personal Identification Number (PIN) is required before applying for the loan online. The PIN is valid for six months and can be purchased at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) for RM5.00. n Applicants are to open an account with a PTPTN-assigned bank.
