On January 11th, 1993, owner Russell Ybarra was asked to take over a restaurant that had already failed as four different foodservice concepts. Russell introduced Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen to the Pearland community, and it is still the most successful restaurant in the company today! “The Pink Building” and Memories of a Marine Formerly referred to as “the pink building” by some, Gringo’s – Pearland underwent a major remodel in June of 2004. On July 4th 2004, The Original reopening was dedicated to Marine Pvt. 1st Class Leroy Sandoval Jr., a close family friend of Russell’s who lost his life while serving in Iraq. A plaque is posted on the front of the building to commemorate that day. A Room All to Yourself “The Original” has a Private Dining Room that can accommodate up to 40 guests with buffet service. Gringo’s Reaches Out After a house fire, valued associate gets new a home just in time for Christmas Just days before Christmas, longtime associate Raul Gonzalez and his family lost everything in a house fire on December 14. Within a day, Gringo’s purchased the family a new home and provided a $1,000 Wal-Mart gift card for new clothing and everyday essentials. Gringo’s is honored to give back to their valued associates, and wanted to make the Gonzalez family Christmas the best it could be after such a tragic event. This is a testament to our Core Value #3—Reinvesting in our associates and local community— which is something we strongly believe in and make sure we always adhere to. Muy Importante!
