Old Podaca
When the Croats during the great
movement of the peoples settled in the
Makarska littoral (the 6th- 8th-centuries)
they had inhabited also this region, but
high above in the slopes of the mountain
for easier defence and also in order to
make good use of the Biokovo pastures. In
this region the Croats had constantly
fought battles against the Venetians and the Croatian maritime power
reached its peak during the era of the Kačić clan from Omiš, and their fall (in
1280) was also the end of the Croatian maritime power. At Gornja Podaca,
dating from the 11th and 12th- centuries, there is the early Croatian church of
St. John with the tombs of the Kačić family, which was a votive foundation of
the Kačić family.

The main segment of our arrangement is to introduce people to nature
through mountain walking (trekking), cycling, kayaking and river photo
safaris via traditional Neretva boats. The entire Biokovo mountain range that
extends from the Vruja till Baćina lakes has countless hidden trails, and we
will focus on the most southern part called Rilić. In our adventures you will
Made by Marin Kosović
find more than 50 km of marked and hikeable trails, ranging from easy to
difficult. Some of these are old and well-known caravan routes that served as
trade passages for the Hinterland Coast. While hiking, you will encounter
several caves and holes while also being immersed in nature, seeing
medicinal and edible plants, hosts, local gastronomy and be able to taste wine
during this fulfilling experience. We created this possibility so that people and
nature could come together and so you can enjoy unforgettable moments
while experiencing nature at its best.

Excursion to Dubrovnik
Distance: 120 km
Dubrovnik also known as "the Pearl of
the Adriatic" (which is what Lord
Byron called it), is a city on the
Adriatic Sea coast in the extreme south
of Croatia, positioned at the terminal
end of the Isthmus of Dubrovnik. It is
one of the most prominent tourist
destinations on the Adriatic, a seaport
and the centre of Dubrovnik-Neretva
county.
The prosperity of the city of Dubrovnik has always been based on maritime
trade. In the Middle Ages, as the Republic of Dubrovnik, it became the only
eastern Adriatic city-state to rival Venice. Supported by its wealth and skilled
diplomacy, the city achieved a remarkable level of development, particularly
during the 15th and 16th centuries. Dubrovnik was one of the centres of the
development of primarily the Croatian language and literature, home to
many notable poets, playwrights, painters, mathematicians, physicists and
other scholars.
