CHICAGO (AP) - Joseph
(Yellow Kid I Well, the 1920s
flim-flam king whose legen
dary get-rich-quick methods
netted him an estimated $8
million, has died in a convales
cent home at the age of 100.
Attendants said Weil died in
his room of natural causes.
For nearly three years, the
fragile little man had been a
welfare patient, living out his
life on the memories of his hey
day when his canary-yellow
gloves, cravats and suits, yel
low calling cards and autos,
yellowish red hat and golden
whiskers made him an interna
tional figure.
“If I had to do it all over
again, I would be foolish if I
didn’t," Weil told an inter
viewer last summer on his
100th birthday.
