Word Buff's 8 Letter Word Cheat Every Scrabble Player Should Know!
Word Buff's 8 Letter Word Cheat 500 Eight Letter Words Every Scrabble Player Should Know! This is a free ebooklet for Word Buff subscribers. I'm always adding new freebies to the list, so if you're not a member and you'd like to receive them, you can subscribe here. It's totally FREE. We all know that to get 50 bonus points in Scrabble you need to learn lots of seven letter words, but something that is not so well known is that the eight letter words are even more important! You heard right. Eight letter bonuses turn up about 30% more often than their seven letter counterparts. This is because of the possibility of taking the seven letters on your rack and weaving them around a letter already on the board. (That letter is then called a 'floater'.) So in this eBooklet I've put together the five hundred eight letter words most likely to be drawn from a full bag of Scrabble tiles. Before you start browsing the list, though, you'll need to know the following conventions I've used to organize the words... • The first column, titled Letters, displays eight likely letters drawn from the bag and sorted into alphabetical order • The second column, titled Anagrams, displays the eight letter word/s that can be formed by unscrambling the letters in the first column • The third column, titled Definition, gives a brief meaning of each word along with its part of speech • Eight letter words that are bold are allowed in North American Scrabble. That is, they are all listed in the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary, which is Hasbro's official tome. The good news is that these words are also allowed in International (World English) Scrabble, so if you switch to the international scene you won't have to unlearn any of them. • Eight letter words that are non-bold are only allowed in International (World English) Scrabble, so you can't play them in North American Scrabble. If you want to know more about the different Scrabble lexicons, I suggest you have a quick read of one of my old Word Buff newsletters here. Ok. Time to hit the list. Knock yourself out ;-) Derek Mckenzie, aka Word Buff P.S.
