Enrolment and Procedure:
1. Please complete the enrolment form and submit the form to the Performing Arts Department before week 1 of the term.
2. An invoice will be sent week 3.
3. Please pay in advance by the end of Week 4. Non-payment will result in the termination of lessons.
4. Schedules will be posted at the end of week 2 for term 1 and then at the end of week 1 for terms 2, 3 and 4.
5. All schedules will be made on a strictly rotational basis. Special requests for times will not be considered, apart from students in the
ELC in consultation with their teachers.
6. In term 1, lessons will begin in week 3. In following terms, lessons will begin in week 2. There will be one lesson per week and 8
lessons per term.
7. Students in the Junior School will be collected from their classrooms by the tutor. Students in the Middle and Senior Schools will be
expected to make their own way to the studio as per the schedule.
8. There will be no lessons in lieu for student sickness or absence. Schedules are created based on the school calendar. If there are
changes to the calendar such as excursions, lessons in lieu can be arranged or the school will bear the cost for the additional lesson.
Lesson in lieu will be provided in the case of tutor absence.
9. Discontinuation of lessons must be made by the end of term, otherwise there will be a cancellation fee of 80 RM.
10. All students must submit a form for Term 1. Students continuing lessons into the following terms need not submit an enrolment form
for every term. They will be automatically included in the schedule.
11.Payments for books and materials are to be made directly to the tutor. Each student will be issued with a lesson journal which outlines
term goals, progress and home practice details.
12. All communication should be made to the Head of Performing Arts (hod.performingarts@aism.edu.my) and not directly to the tutor,
theFinance Department or the Performing Arts assistant.

Introducing your tutors........
The Australian International School Malaysia provides the opportunity for your
child or children to learn a musical instrument with professional music tutors during school hours.
Instrumental lessons involve private tuition on an instrument of choice. Woodwind, string, percussion, piano and guitar
tutors provide specialised instrumental tuition and music reading skills.
Being involved in music making requires participation with others therefore students will be invited to join AISM’s music
ensembles when they have reached a suitable standard.

Mr (Steven) Boey Chung Cheak
Ms. Poh Ciao Chin
Ms. Poh holds qualifications from
The Associate Board of the Royal
School of Music and Trinity
Guildhall. She is currently
studying for her Licentiate and
Fellowship awards. She has
experience in conducting school
choirs and bands; a number of
years as a piano teacher at Yamaha and has been teaching
piano at AISM since 2005.
Guitar and Woodwind Teacher,
Mr. Albert Loo (Loo Kim Seng)
Associate Board of the
Royal School of Music and
the National Computing
Centre, United Kingdom.
He is a qualified guitar
instructor in the Yamaha
method and has been
teaching in private and
group settings since 2005.
Albert is a member of the KLPAC Symphonic
Band on saxophone and is a guitarist in function
and club bands.
At AISM, Albert teaches guitar, bass guitar,
saxophone and flute. He has experience in digital
audio recording and is pursuing studies in jazz
improvisation and composition.
Steven holds qualifications
in Violin LTCL (Licentiate of
Trinity College London.)
and a Bachelor of Civil
Engineering University of
New South Wales.
He has been teaching violin and other string
instruments since 1985 in various schools throughout
Malaysia including Kolej Tuanku Jaafar, Sedaya
University College and AISM. Steven has been a
member of the Penang Symphony Orchestra (PSO)
since 1973 and has represented Malaysia at the first
Malaysian National Music Camp held in December
1977 at which he was appointed Concert Master. He
has performed regularly with the PSO in local and
overseas concerts and has been a member of the
Petaling Jaya Philharmonic since 2005.
Piano and Vocal Teacher,
Ms Audrey Lingam
Audrey Lingam is a
graduate from University of
Commitment to Serve
Internationally (UCSI) with a
Bachelor of Music (hons.)
Degree in Classical Music.
She majored in classical piano and minored in contemporary piano, voice and drums. She has also learned to
play the guitar.
Audrey is currently teaching piano and vocals at Nexus
International School, pop guitar as well as music group
lessons at Music Makers, and she teaches at J Melody
& Arts and JJ Pianoforte. Besides teaching, she also
performs at cafes. She has performed at the Garden
Café and T42 and she is involved in church musicals as
an alto sectional leader and choir conductor. In her free
time, Audrey likes to write songs and to learn new
languages and is currently learning Spanish and
Mandarin. Go-karting and archery are also among her
passions.
Drum Teacher,
Mr Jared Cheow
Jared Cheow has played
drums for more than 10
years; starting early as a
hobby and then as a
performer at church talent
events, resulting in a win
at one of the competitions
held in the church. Inspired by this, Jared began
formal drum classes and completed Grade 8
Advanced level of Roland Rock School.
Performing for Jared became natural, and he has
continued to perform with a variety of performers at
venus such as Andrew Netto’s Stand up Comedy,
Allan G and friends at Library Mid Valley, the
Russell Curtis Band and Nadia Aqila’s album
launch. In addition to performing and teaching as
a drum instructor at various music schools in
Kuala Lumpur, Jared has worked as a sound
technician at a variety of Kuala Lumpur music
venues, and also in the media industry as a Cruiser
Pilot for Hitz FM. Jared believes ‘musical influences
have no boundaries but being in the modern
times, versatility is what my goal is. Whatever it
may be, having fun and playing my best is what
makes it worthwhile.’
String Teacher,
Mervin Yeow, LTCL
Mervin Yeow is a
trained classical
violinist, violist, cellist
as well as pianist
after graduating from
Sunway University as
an ACCA (Association
of Chartered Certified
Accountant) affiliate. He holds an ATCL and
LTCL diploma in violin recital and is currently
pursuing a ATCL diploma in Cello recital.
Mervin is a string tutor Nexus International
School and has a teaching experience of more
than 7 years since 2008. He's currently a
member of KLpac(Kuala Lumpur performing
arts center) orchestra and actively participating in several quartets, such as the Sunway
University Residence Ensemble, as a cellist
and performing around Klang Valley.
Indian Classical Music Teacher,
Ms Lilly
Ms Lilly is qualified as a veena
teacher from Madras Music
College, Chenai by Veena Master
Viduwan Sambahsivam Iyer. She
has been playing veena for 40
years. She comes from a long
line of musicians. She is the
great granddaughter of Soosai
Pillai, Mridagam Viduwan.
Miss Lilly has been teaching veena for 24 years as a private
tutor. She has been performing since 1977 in various
churches, cultural shows, concerts, functions, stage shows,
clubs, temples and universities expo throughout Malaysia
and has also performed in South Africa. She has been part of
local albums produced and performed for RTM Malaysia.
Miss Lilly is one of the Panel of Judges for classical music for
National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS), Department of
Skills Development, Ministry of Human and Resources,
Malaysia.
AISM Music Academy Fees and Policy:
AISM is acting as an agent between the parents and the tutors.
As an intermediary, AISM offers the service of enrolling
students, arranging schedules, invoicing and collecting
payments, which are then paid directly to tutors.
Fees:
> RM45 per lesson, RM360 per term = 8 x 30 minute lessons

Payments to be made at the Accounts Office in advance.
