Feature Films:
A ROUND-HEELED WOMAN feature film script, written March 13, currently in
development.
Jane wrote the first script in the MAYA FOX series, adapted from the teen novels by Iginio
Straffi and Silvia Brena for producers Amber Films.
Jane co-wrote the feature film UP ON THE ROOF, based on the stage play, also co-written
with Simon Moore.
Television:
KILLER INSTINCT: 5 part psychological crime drama in development with Artis Pictures
in association with Lookout Point and BBC Worldwide.
MARION PARKER: long-running returnable crime drama in development with Wall to
Wal Television.
TRIAL & RETRIBUTION: January 09 – two part script for La Plante Productions:
“WITNESS”.
TRIAL AND RETRIBUTION: Wrote script for La Plante Productions – “GHOST
TRAIN”. Director Stefan Schwarz. Transmitted spring 2009.
THE COMMANDER: wrote and directed two hour script for La Plante Productions/ITV
“BOXERS” (autumn 07)
GREEN-EYED MONSTER: scripted and directed by Jane, this was an original story about
obsessive jealousy for the BBC.
DEVIL’S ROCK: psychological thriller set in Australia.
TELL TALE HEART: tense thriller idea about a heart transplant recipient who has visions
of their donor’s life – including their murderer.
HEAD OVER HEELS: wrote four episodes for own original series for Carnival/Carlton.
Jane also co-produced with Brian Eastman. Transmitted Jan/Feb 93.
Theatre (as writer):
A ROUND HEELED WOMAN: Written stage play based on Jane Juska bestseller
starring Sharon Gless (Cagney and Lacey, Queer As Folk, Burn Notice). Jane
directed own adaptation at Gablestages theatre, Miami, December 2010, Riverside
Sudios, Hammersmith, October 2011, which then transferred to the Aldwych theatre
in London’s West End.

THE COMMANDER: 2 x 60’ for Lynda LaPlante Productions/ITV – written and
directed, starring Amanda Burton, Mark Lewis Jones, Gary Stretch, Gerard Kearns
and Toby Kebbell. TX: August 2007, ITV 1.
ROCKET MAN: directed episodes 3 and 4 of Alison Hume drama comedy for
Coastal/Touchpaper/BBC Wales starring Robson Green. (November 2005, BBC1).
THE FUGITIVES: directed 7 part children’s drama serial for Shed Productions /
Childrens ITV. Cast includes Maureen Lipman. (May 2005, CITV).
LIVING IT: directed first 5 episodes of new CBBC series. Producer May Gibson. (Sept
2005).
BETWEEN THE SHEETS: directed second block (3 episodes) of Kay Mellor series for
Rollem Productions/ Producer Yvonne Francas. Stars Julie Graham, Brenda Blethyn, Alun
Armstrong, Liz Smith and Norman Wisdom. TX: Autumn 2003.
GREEN-EYED MONSTER: directed 2 part drama from own screenplay for Film &
General/ BBC-1 (Jane Tranter). Producer Gillian Gordon. Emma Fielding, Fay Ripley and
Hugo Speer star. (September 2001, BBC1).
THE GREATEST STORE IN THE WORLD: directed film for Film and General/ BBC
TV based on Alex Shearer’s novel. Broadcast Christmas Eve ‘99. Cast: Dervla Kirwan,
Ricky Tomlinson and Peter Capaldi. Nominated for Best Children’s Drama BAFTA
2000.
SUNNY’S EARS: Directed 4 x 30’ children's serial for Film & General
Productions(producer Gillian Gordon)/Carlton .TX: October 97. Winner of Royal
Television Society Best Children’s programme award. Pascal Blackburn playing Sunny
won the One in Eight Award (highlighting roles and performances for the disabled in film
&TV) for best performance. Screened at the Chicago International Children’s Film
Festival, October 1998.
THE BILL: directed four episodes for Thames Television; Playing with Fire (stars Letitia
Dean); Alternative Therapies; Paying For It and Grey Area.

THE TENTH KINGDOM: co-produced ten hour serial with Simon Moore and Brian
Eastman. TX: April 2000, Sky One. Broadcast on NBC in the US Feb/ March. Carnival
Films and Hallmark Entertainment for NBC/ SKY.
UP ON THE ROOF: Co-produced film co-written with Simon Moore for Granada Film/
Rank. Prods: Jane Prowse, Pippa Cross and Brian Eastman.
Theatre
1980
Royal Shakespeare Company BEST DIRECTOR Award at the National Student
Drama Festival for own adaptation of Steinbeck’s THE PEARL.
Invited to the Edinburgh Festival to direct a new award-winning play, TOO
MANY MONKEYS, for the National Student Theatre Company.
1981-6
Formed PRODUCTION LINE Theatre Company to present new plays, including
SUCKERS, THE AMAZING DANCING BEAR, NO FUTURE FOR
ROBOTS and OVERBOARD. (Writing and directing).
1987
Co-wrote and directed UP ON THE ROOF with Simon Moore which transferred
to the Apollo, Shaftesbury Avenue, following successful runs at the Theatre
Royal, Plymouth and at the Donmar Warehouse.
Nominated as Best New Play in the Standard Theatre Awards and as Best Musical
in the Laurence Olivier Awards. (Mark McGann and Gary Olsen also received
Olivier nominations for their performances in UP ON THE ROOF.)
1988
UP ON THE ROOF: workshopped and performed at the Long Wharf theatre,
New Haven, Connecticut.
1989
Directed tour of UP ON THE ROOF in January-March. Dates included Brighton
Theatre Royal and the Drum, Plymouth.
Directed A LITTLE LIKE DROWNING by Anthony Minghella at the Druid
Theatre, Galway. Production brought back into the season as it was so popular.
Co-wrote with Simon Moore, HEARTBREAKER with lyrics by Don Black.
1990
Directed and co-wrote with Chris Jury THE DIG which was produced by the
Cambridge Theatre Co. Cast included Eleanor Bron.
1994
UP ON THE ROOF: directed production at Alliance Theatre, Atlanta,
September Co-wrote with Simon Moore.
2012
A ROUND-HEELED WOMAN: Jane directed her own adaptation of the best
selling book by Jane Juska, starring Sharon Gless (see above).
