Trip 2 Week 3
Dear Parents,
We and your daughters enjoyed having you visit this past Sunday. That evening we shifted
gears, setting the tone for Tisha B’Av, by having our talented staff perform the Cantata. It
was inspirational, thought- provoking and entertaining. Erev Tisha B’Av started with
regular activities and then we began to set the mood by connecting to Eretz Yisroel
through a multimedia presentation and heartfelt singing. On Tisha B’Av we identified with
our brothers and sisters in Israel with ‘thanks and blanks’—sending to the soldiers letters
of thanks and sewn messages onto fleece blankets the girls made.
Chatzos on Wednesday brought a surge of music and energy. The dining room was
rocking as Mrs. Greenspan, our very talented music director, cut loose on her electric
guitar!
Our week ended on a feverish pitch as the Jumballa African Acrobats performed
spectacular acrobatic, juggling and balancing feats!
All this has set the stage for a meaningful and energized Shabbos Nachamu. May this
nachamu be the final stage before the ultimate geula.
Have a wonderful Shabbos!

It was nice seeing everyone on Visiting Day!
I hope everyone had an easy fast. Tisha B’av
in camp was truly inspirational. We heard
stories, saw some moving footage, and were
able to connect through song. The week
continued with the exciting 8th grade
overnight, and break out for Dorney Park!
It’s never a dull moment here at Camp Dina!
But even through all of the excitement, it is
easy to see the girls’ beautiful middos and
the care and concern that they have for
each other shine through.
Have a wonderful Shabbos!

Week three in Camp Dina’s Trip 2 has been
meaningful and uplifting. On Sunday night, campers
watched their counselors, lifeguards, sports, and
other staff members participate in a Nine Days
Cantata. The beautiful musical arrangements paid
melodious tribute to our Mothers Sarah, Rivka,
Rachel, and Leah, and the multimedia production
included dedications to the soldiers in Israel.
On Monday we continued to prepare for Tisha B’Av
with a kumzits and slideshow to connect campers
with the meaning of the day and with the feelings of
loss for the Beis Hamikdash.
When the music came back on Wednesday, the camp
rocked with energy. Campers jumped, danced and
sang as they got back into the routine of swimming
and musical activities. On Thursday, the entire camp
enjoyed an amazing show by the Jambala acrobats.
They balanced and swung and flipped and jumped in
a most exciting and entertaining event.
Friday is “Bananagram Day”, and campers will
share “Shabbat-o-grams” with each other for our
last Shabbos in camp. A “Shabbat-o-gram” is a note
with a candy that sends a nice Shabbos message to
one’s friend. It is a beautiful way to create positive
energy and excitement in the bunk- since no one
knows who is going to send them a Shabbat-o-gram.
It is a surprise on your plate at Friday night dinner!
Looking forward to a great week!

SHIUR
Mrs. Racheli Staum
This week was a very meaningful week in Shiur! On Monday after the activities of the
day we had a “set the tone program.” Through slideshow and song the girls gained an
understanding of the challenges & pain that Klal Yisroel is currently enduring. Once
Tisha B’av started everyone walked single file through candles into the candle lit Rec
Hall where Eichah was read by R’ Ciner, followed by Kinnos. A powerful kumzits
followed which lasted well into the night.
Tisha B’av day was filled with meaningful speakers, programs, projects and activities
which focused on making the churban meaningful;, understanding the tragedies that
occurred on this day in history and how to do our part in rebuilding the Beis Hamikdash!
A hightlight of the day was the letter writing to the chayalim and making blankets to
send to them.
The rest of the week focused on continuing learning Pirkei Avos. We focused on making
use of every minute we are given on this world. Another lesson focused on appreciating
the freedom of choice we are given and that Hashem judges the world with goodness.
The last lesson of the week focused on the Torah perspective of a wise man- someone who
learns from everyone. The girls were challenged to find something to learn from
everyone and that was then presented by their peers! They did an awesome job and
proved to be very wise!
Have a great Shabbos,

Dear Parents,
As we prepare for a fantastic and fun last Shabbos, I want to share with you how much we have grown over
Tisha B’av and geared up our ruach as we enter Shabbos Nachamu! The girls have opened up their hearts and
minds as we celebrate our last week together at Camp Dina.
Thank you,
