Summer Skating Program 2014 Weekly From: June 2nd - August 14th, 2014 Registration / Brochure Center Ice Sports Complex (CISC) is pleased to welcome all skaters to join us for our 2014 Summer Skating Program. The 2014 Summer Skating Program schedule has been designed for the serious skaters as well as the beginner with Freestyle sessions, on-ice clinics and off-ice classes. This will provide a comprehensive program in order to develop a well-rounded skater. Center Ice Skating Club Coaches are approved to teach during our summer program. Guest Coaches must be approved by rink management before you would be allowed to teach. Please send your request to coach during our summer program to skatingdirectorscisc@gmail.com along with your resume and a scanned copy of your USFS Coach Registration card. Dress Code Female Skating Dress, Leotard, Skating Skirt or Stretch Pants. No jeans or jeans shorts may be worn. Long hair should be pulled back and out of the skater’s face. Male Warm-ups, Running or Stretch Pants. No jeans or shorts Class Descriptions - All class instructo rs subject to substitutions Class subje ct to cancellation based on enrollment Classes a re taught by the Instructor listed. However, if there are more than 10 skaters registered, classes will be split into high and low sections with two Inst ructors when ever possible. Off Ice Classes – Open to all levels of skaters! – Yoga mat and tennis shoes are required for all off Ice Classes. Flexibility taught by Kamryn Lorenzen The class will involve all body st retching. It is designed for skaters to improve their f lexibility both on and off the ice. The class will specifically work on loosening the muscles for spirals, sp lits ju mps, landing positions, ca mel spins, and laybacks. Jumps taught by Stephanie Troyer (No yoga mat for this class) Dry land rotational jumps which stimulate ju mp rotation and landing positions; basics of single and double jumps are broken down to improve height, distance, and landings. This class will help improve body awareness, coo rdination, and overall body control with proper to rso alignment and muscle me mory. Pilates taught by instructors from Core Essentials Yoga and Pilates Pilates is an exercise syste m, which focuses on imp roving strength, flexibility, balance, control and muscu lar symmetry. The rhythmic exercises aid in building more defined, longer, leaner muscles. Pilates is a total body workout of specifically developed exercises done on either a mat or specia lly designed equipment. Pilates exercises concentrate more on the smalle r mu scle groups around the joints and bones. After an hours workout you will feel as if you have better posture, more flexibility, co re strength, a greater sense of well being, and be on your way to a toner body. Positions taught by Megan Riedy (Tuesday) Stephanie Troye r (Friday) This class is for the very beginner skater wo rking on waltz jumps up thru the advanced skater working on triple s. We will be wo rking on all the different kind of positions that skaters need to know for jumps, spin s, landings, and all sorts of different choreography positions. We will also work on the flow of one position to another to help the skaters with muscle me mory. Strength & Condi tioning taught by Jenna Zavasky This will be an off ice strength and conditioning class customized for the needs of figure skaters. Workouts will include muscle training for ju mps with a focus on core training. Additionally, card iovascula r training will be use d for stamina in the skaters prog rams. Additionally the class will educate skaters in what can be done on their own time away from the ice rink to imp rove their skating and strength. Yoga taught by instructors fro m Core Essentials Yoga and Pilates Power Vinyasa Yoga is a mind-body wo rkout that coordinates breath with move ment. In one yoga class, you will work on strength, cardio, balance, and flexibilit y. You will develop a working relationship with the mind and body that will take you deeper into poses than you ever thought possible. You will cult ivate body awareness, and learn to use the breath to help keep your mind focused and present. In one class, you can expect anything from pushups to lunges to squats to handstands to spinal twists to dancing to anything in between. On Ice Classes Curves/Spirals taught by Megan Riedy Level Require ment: Passed Basic 8 Skaters of all levels will wo rk on proper edges and body placement in this class. The cla ss is designed to help skaters develop better edges and work on knee bend. The other part of the class will be on spirals. The skate rs will be taught variations to the basic spiral position and will wo rk on different spiral patterns. Spins taught by Michelle Dilling (Tuesday Evening ), Stephanie Troyer (Wednesday) Spin Requirement: Skaters must be able to do – Scratch Spin and Sit Spin This class will be used for improving the skaters’ spins. Skaters will wo rk on increasing the speed of their basic spins and then will wo rk on spin co mbinations with difficult variations. Footwork taught by Stephanie Troyer Level Require ment: Passed Basic 8 This class will focus on different types of turns and steps including: rockers, counters, double threes, Choctaws, loops, twizzles and brackets. The skaters will wo rk on incorporating these steps into footwork sequences. Power taught by Stephanie Troyer (Monday), B rian Linc (Thursday Evening), and Jenna Zavasky (Friday) Level Require ment: Passed Basic 8 Skaters of all levels will perform a variety of exercises and patterns based on moves in the field with the focus on proper stroking technique; emphasizing upper body carriage, use of knees, edges and extension. The ultimate goal is to create power and flow across the ice without visible effort. This session is to be used for the practice of freestyle, moves, dance, and for private lessons. Moves/Dance Sessions : Open to all skaters passed Basic 6. Th is session is to be used for the practice of moves, dance, choreography, and for private lessons focusing on these areas. Registration and Payment Details 1. Registrations are due May 14, 2014 to receive the pre-registe red price for packages and individual sessions. Registra tions submitted after May 14 th will be charged a $30 late fee. 2. A 50% deposit is due with registration. 3. Balance is due June 2, 2014 4. FSO cards may not be used during the summer. 5. CISC ma y decline regist rations as seen fit by management. (Make all checks payable to Center Ice Sports Co mplex) Refunds • All refunds are subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee. There will be no refunds issued after June 2 nd unless reasons are due to injury or illness so long as timely notice is given to CIS C. This policy will only be honored upon receipt of a physician’s note. •Session/Class changes ma y only be made by the skater’s parent BE FORE the day of the contracted session/class. • Any cancelled sessions will be refunded at the session rate or equivalent FSO voucher will be given. Private Instruction Private instruction is arranged with your coach and is payable directly to the coach.
