Laboratory format allows students an opportunity to work in a costume shop and incorporate construction with design process, culminating in a final project of a fully realized garment. This class also includes instruction for collaborative crew assignments for practical engagement in a fully mounted theatrical performance. Studies in text analysis, studio processes and technical production with an introduction to design criticism, scale model making, and costume design. STORYTELLING AND DESIGN IN ANIMATION TDGE 126 READER, instructed by Tara Knight Responsible for grading 50-‐100 papers weekly for an undergraduate lecture course covering the broad range in animation styles and how the sound/set/costume/character design impacts narrative. JoAnn Fabric – Portland, OR 2008 COURSE INSTRUCTOR 3-‐hour intermediate sewing class geared towards the basics of garment construction for ages 6-‐9. In the allotted time, students learned to cut and layout a commercial pattern and sew a pair of personalized pajama pants. Many students came to the class with little to no sewing experience. An extensive knowledge of clothing history, fashion trends and international clothing movements are often used to visually tell the story. Execution of design required through shopping, renting, altering, repurposing or building. Responsible for assisting the Draper in costume fittings and daily agenda along with interpreting custom flat patterns and cutting out pieces for mock ups and realized costumes as well as taking lead on alterations and keeping the stitching team on task. APPAREL SHOWROOM MANAGER June 2004 – August 2006 RJC ENTERPRISES – The Apparel Center, Chicago, IL Employee responsible for maintaining daily office operations, client management and trade show sales for a gift, jewelry and women’s apparel wholesaler in the Midwestern Region. Liaison between Designers and Buyers to monitor sales and inventory as well as providing information for design forecasting based off client needs.
