Knitted Blanket in Garter Stitch with Stripes & Picot Crochet Edging Beginner Knitting MEASUREMENTS Blanket (approx) 80 x 110 cm MATERIALS CLECKHEATON COUNTRY 8 PLY or COUNTRY NATURALS 8 PLY 50g balls Main Colour (MC) 1st Contrast Colour (C1) 2nd Contrast Colour (C2) 3rd Contrast Colour (C3) 4th Contrast Colour (C4) 11 1 1 1 1 Use only the yarn specified. Other yarns are likely to produce different results. Quantities are approximate as they can vary between knitters. Check the ball bands to ensure all yarn is from the same dye lot. NEEDLES, HOOK AND EXTRAS • one pair of 5.00mm knitting needles or the required size to give correct tension. • 3.00mm crochet hook. • wool needle for sewing in ends. For abbreviations and more information on knitting techniques, please see cleckheaton.com.au TENSION This handknit has been designed at a tension of 18 sts and 37 rows to 10cm over garter st, using 5.00mm needles. SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS Picot = 3ch, sl st in first of these ch. BLANKET Using 5.00mm needles and MC, cast on 144 sts. Knit 5 rows garter st (1st row is wrong side). Using C1, knit 2 rows. Using MC, knit 6 rows. Using C2, knit 2 rows. Using MC, knit 6 rows. Using C3, knit 2 rows. Using MC, knit 6 rows. Using C4, knit 2 rows. Using MC, knit 6 rows. Last 32 rows form stripe patt. Cont in patt until work measures approx 108cm from beg, ending with 2 rows of any contrast colour. Using MC, knit 5 rows garter st. Cast off loosely knitways. EDGING With right side facing, using 3.00mm hook and MC, work 1 round dc around all edges of blanket, taking care to keep work flat and working a ‘Picot’ every 4dc and at each corner, sl st in first dc. Fasten off.
