Not suitable for use in a bath or shower. WARNING: Do not use this appliance near bathtubs, showers, basins or other vessels containing water. 1. Remove all packaging and keep safe until satisfied with your product. 2. DO NOT plug in until ready to use. USAGE This appliance is fitted with a 'Positive Neon Heat Ready System' for easy guide to all heating requirements. 1. The flexi-stylers can be used on damp or dry hair. If being used on damp hair, ensure hair is 80% dry. 2. Ensure all flexi-stylers have been straightened and are placed in the slots inside the case. 3. Ensure the case is closed. Position the unit on a flat, hard, heat resistant surface ensuring it is stable. 4. Fully unwind the mains cable and plug the unit into a suitable mains supply and switch on. The heater starts warming the flexi-stylers and the neon indicator light will illuminate. Do not cover the unit during the heating cycle. 5. After approximately 10 minutes the heater will cycle off and the neon indicator light will go out. The flexi-stylers are now at a gentle heat, suitable for fine, sensitive hair. 6. After approximately 12 minutes, the heater will cycle on to continue heating the flexi-stylers. The neon indicator light will illuminate. 4 7. After approximately 15 minutes, the heater will cycle off again and the neon indicator will go out. The flexi-stylers are now at medium heat, suitable for normal hair. 8. After approximately 17 minutes the heater will cycle on to continue heating the flexi-stylers and the neon indicator will illuminate. 9. After approximately 20 minutes, the heater cycles off and the neon indicator will go out. The flexi-stylers are now at maximum heat, suitable for thick, difficult to style hair. The NHS004 will now continue to cycle at maximum heat until it is unplugged from the mains supply. The cycling action of the neon indicator light will remind you to unplug the unit after use. NOTE: Hair types outlined are there for guidance only. Some experimentation will be needed to discover the best temperature setting for your hair type and style. USING FLEXI-STYLERS 1. Take a section of hair and comb straight, holding taut with one hand. 2. Place a pre-heated flexi-styler parallel across the inside of the section of hair, approximately 50mm (2 inches) from your roots. There should be 25mm (1 inch) of the flexi-styler on one side of the section of hair. 3. Now take the end of the hair section and wind round the flexi-styler all in one movement. It is important not to let go of the hair. 4. Now holding the ends of the flexi-stylers, unwind a little, and then rewind so you trap the ends of the hair and stop it from unravelling. 5. Secure by folding the ends of the flexi-styler over each other. NOTE: The finished result is governed by the size of sections you take, the positions of the flexi-stylers, and the length of time the flexi-stylers are left in your hair. 5 FOR CURLS WITH MORE VOLUME You can create even more volume by twisting your hair before winding it onto the flexi-styler. To do this, take a small section of your hair, twist and wind round the flexi-styler. Now twist the flexi-styler in a semi circle. Continue working in this manner before turning over the ends of the flexi-styler to secure in the normal way. Leave the flexi-stylers until completely cool before removing. FOR LOOSER CURLS AND WAVES To achieve smooth results it is essential that you work cleanly and neatly. Working from a centre or side parting take 75mm (3 inch) wide sections. Drag your hair down flat to your head, and wind onto the flexi-stylers. Do not wind the flexi-styler completely up to the root, instead leave 75mm (3 inches) of hair in order to achieve a smoother look. FOR TIGHTER SPIRAL CURLS Work straight back from your hairline and divide your hair into small sections - each approximately 25mm (1 inch). Wind onto the flexi-stylers as described. FOR SOFT TUMBLING CURLS Work straight back from your hairline, dividing your hair into medium sections - each approximately 50mm (2 inches) and wind onto flexi-stylers as described. 6 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS • • • Do not immerse the case in water or any other liquid. Switch off the unit and allow to cool completely before cleaning and storage Unplug the unit immediately after use. HINTS AND TIPS • Keep the ends of the hair flat against the flexi-styler when wrapping hair around, this will avoid kinks at the ends. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE 1. Switch the flexi-stylers off by unplugging from the mains supply and allow to cool fully before attempting to clean. 2. The case may be cleaned by wiping over with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the case in water or get any water inside the case. 3. The flexi-stylers may be washed in warm water. If necessary a little washing up liquid can be used.
