Ambassador of the Month
President’s Message
ONE HUNDRED FIFTY-SIX new members in two
days! Wow! Those are the amazing results of the
Chamber’s big Membership Event held March 19 and
20. Not only was it a very fun and exciting event, but
156 additional members makes us stronger and our
voice louder as we work to build the strongest business
Susanne Sartelle
climate in Eastern North Carolina.
I cannot think of anything more important to write
about this month than to say THANK YOU to the many volunteers who made
this event successful. From the top, Phil Ahlschlager as Chamber Chair,
Michelle Brooks as Membership Vice Chair and Don and Boots Mills as
Membership Event Co-Chairs, all deserve a big hand.
And how about a big roar for the Team Chairs who produced: Tommy Price
(the winning Maroon Team!), Leo Corbin & Stephanie Hinnant (Duke Blue,
really?), Liz Freeman (the new “Godmuddah”), Will Franklin & Mark Phillips
(the new “Godfaddahs”), Billy and Toni Walton (solid Gold!), Gail Nichols
(how many shades of gray?), Chris Taylor (is watermelon really a color?) and
Patti McGee (queen of the runners!).
Then there are the producers! Thank you to all the amazing volunteers!
In addition to the Group Chairs named above, Team Captains and Team
members who brought in new members and runners who visited the new
members are listed here. Thank you EVERYBODY!!

Frank Salvato with the City of Greenville is the Chamber’s Ambassador of the Month. I really enjoy visiting businesses and
asking what the Chamber can do for them. It seems to reconnect them with the Chamber and gets them back involved with
different events. The Chamber really is a resource for local
business. Being able to dissect their mailing list to accommodate their needs or to provide a complete local business guide
Frank Salvato
has been well received. The business before and after hours
socials have been refreshing to see the networking that goes on. Leadership in
Community Development and local organizations confirms the Chamber’s mission to build the Strongest Business Climate in Eastern North Carolina.

Center, concurrent with the running of the Kentucky
Derby. Attendees will enjoy appetizers, drinks, dinner,
dessert, live entertainment, games, and live and silent
auctions along with the viewing of the Derby. In
addition, there will be an opportunity to meet some
of the horses that make students’ experiences at RHR
so special. On May 3, the 4th Annual Derby Week
“Par For The Ponies” Golf Tournament will be held at
Ironwood Golf & Country Club. Individual and corporate sponsorships as well as
opportunities to attend either or both events are still available - contact (252) 7520153, info@rhrnc.com or www.rhrnc.com. Proceeds from both events support the

V Make-A-Wish® Eastern North Carolina announced during the 2013 Pitt
County Business Expo that A Wireless, a Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer,

fundraising events and a raffle that helped underwrite the costs of these wishes.
Kevin, 5, has spent the last year in treatment for a brain tumor. Cameron, 4, is
diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Both children experienced their
wishes to visit Walt Disney World recently. A Wireless was founded as a partnership in October 1996 in Wilson, North Carolina and incorporated as ABC Phones
of North Carolina, Inc. in 1999. The privately-held company, headquartered in
Greenville, North Carolina, is an Exclusive Premium Retailer for Verizon Wireless and employs over 700 people at 112 locations in eight states and the District
of Columbia. For more information on Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina,
