How to Play Gin Rummy is a classic card game where two players compete to collect specific card combinations. Each game consists of matches, and matches consist of rounds. The winner of a round is the one who has scored the most points, the winner of a match is the one who scores 100 or more points. One pack of 52 playing cards without jokers is used. The master card is king, the weakest card is ace. A player must collect sets (3 or more cards of the same rank – 3 3’s for example) or sequences (sequence of 3 or more cards of the same suit – 3, 4, 5, and 6 of hearts for example). Deadwood card are those not in any set. A combination of 10 cards without deadwood cards called "gin". The game continues until one of the players collects cards with deadwood points less than or equal to 10 and knocks or until there are only 2 cards left in the pack. TURN Each turn the player draws either the (face-up) top card of the discard pile, or one card from the stock. To complete a turn, one card must be discarded from player’s hand and placed on top of the discard pile face up. If the player took the top card from the discard pile, he or she must discard a different card - taking the top discard and putting the same card back is not permitted. Player can knock, ending the round, if he has deadwood points less than or equal to 10. SCORING Having collected "gin", the player gets 25 points and the total sum of the points of your opponent cards which are not used in combinations (deadwood points). If player knocks and has deadwood points less than opponent’s deadwood points, he receives difference of opponent and player’s deadwood points. If player knocks but has deadwood points more or equal to opponents deadwood points, the opponent gets 20 points and difference of opponent’s and player’s deadwood scores. The estimation of cards' value is used in the calculation of cards that the player has: a) for cards in sets or sequences - 0 points. b) for separate face cards - 10 points. c) for separate plain cards (till 10 and ace) the number of points corresponds to the card: ten - 10 points; ace - 1 point.
