Instructions
This pattern assumes you’ve made chenille before and are familiar with the basic instructions of cutting and layering fabrics. If you’ve never made chenille before, you should start by
watching this helpful Youtube video that shows how to make

1. It is important to cut ALL strips on the BIAS. Use your rotary cutter and ruler
to cut 4” strips on the bias. You will need (9) layers that are 72” long. One layer
will be the center (base) layer. For our store sample, we used White as the base
layer. Then we used (2) red strips, (1) green strip, and (1) white strip on each
side.
2. Begin by laying your base layer on a flat surface. Layer the three remaining layers on top. You will need to add additional strips to reach your desired 72”. Add
strips by butting them up against the edge of the strip you are adding to. Once
you have all (5) strips laid out evenly, pin in place.
3. Flip the scarf over and add (4) strips to the bottom in the same way you placed
the strips on the top. Take care to match edges. Pin in place.
4. Sew (8) 3/8” channels along the top of the scarf, backstitching on each end to
finish the seam. For our store sample, we used the side of the walking foot as our
guide.
5. After the channels are stitched, use your rotary cutter and ruler to trim 1/4”
outside the outer channels. This will reduce your scarf
to approximately 3-1/2” wide.

6. With a ruler and pencil, make a mark 2” from each end. This will be the cutting line
for the fringe.
7. With a sharp scissors, cut the center of
each channel through ALL nine layers to the
marked fringe line. Do this for both ends of
the scarf. For the remainder of the scarf,
use a chenille cutter (we recommend Olfa) or
sharp scissors to cut through the center of
each channel through the TOP four layers of
fabric, leaving the base layer intact. Do the same for the other side of the scarf.
8. Use your machine to stitch across your marked fringe line, backstitching at each
end to seal the seams.
9. Toss your scarf in the washer and dryer to fluff it up. You can use a brush to fluff
the chenille layers as well. Each time you wash your scarf, it will get a little fluffier.
