Royal Palm Beach High School – Summer Reading List 2013‐2014 Dear Parents and Guardians, The following is Royal Palm Beach Community High School’s mandatory Summer Reading List for all 9th ‐ 12th grade students for the 2013‐2014 school year. The list below includes all titles grouped by grade level. All students are required to read the novels for grades in their English classes. Students enrolled in regular level classes (English I, English II, English III, English IV – College Readiness) will select two novels from the grade level list for their grade and will complete a project totaling 50 points (see attached project descriptions) for each of the books they have read. Students enrolled in advanced level classes (Honors, AICE, Excelsior, AP) will read one required novel and one novel selected from the grade level list. These students should complete the project for the book they select themselves, and be prepared to take a test on the designated required title. Required reading books for advanced classes should be purchased and brought to school with the students as they will be included in the required curriculum. Novels may also be purchased in an electronic format and may be utilized through electronic book readers – kindles, nooks, etc. Students enrolled in the AICE General Paper class as 10th Graders should follow the requirements for English II Honors. Students taking the AICE General Paper class as 11thor 12th grade students should select from the English III or English IV list. AICE English Language (11th grade) should follow the same requirements as AP Language.
