How to reach the European School at Culham The European School, Culham, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 3DZ, UK Tel: +44 (0) 1235 522621 Location The school is situated on the A415 between Abingdon and Dorchester approximately 10 miles (16km) south of Oxford and 2 miles (3km) east of Abingdon. Getting Here By Car From the North Leave the A34 at the Abingdon North exit on to the A4183. Follow the A4183 to Abingdon town centre and on to the A415 towards Dorchester. The school is situated on the left, approx. 2 miles east of Abingdon. From the South Coming from the Newbury direction leave the A34 at the Marcham Interchange. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A415, signposted Abingdon. Follow the A415 to Abingdon town centre and on towards Dorchester. Continue as above. From the West Travel along the A4074 until you reach the Berinsfield roundabout. Turn left onto the A145 signposted Abingdon, Dorchester. Continue through Clifton Hampden and you will find the school on your right, approx 2 ½ miles after the traffic lights at Clifton Hampden. By Train Culham Railway Station is approx. a mile from the school with a good service connection to London (via Didcot) and Oxford. You can pre-book tickets online, or purchase them on the day. The direct journey from London to Didcot takes approx. 45 minutes with trains at 15-minute intervals. Alternatively the train from London to Culham with a change over in Didcot takes approx. 1 hour. By Bus If travelling from Oxford you will have to change at Abingdon. The X3 bus runs frequently and quickly from Oxford to Abingdon and is operated by the Oxford Bus Company. The less frequent local bus service is operated by Thames Travel Buses and is route 140 from Abingdon to Culham Science Centre and on to Wallingford. If requested, we will provide transport to or from Abingdon. By Air We're about 60 mins car or taxi drive from London Heathrow, 100 mins from Birmingham International and 110 mins from London Gatwick Airports. Luton and Stansted Airports are more distant and/or direct routes are less frequent. Travelling from the Airport by bus: Heathrow: There is a 30-minute frequency for the X70 bus between Heathrow Airport and Gloucester Green bus station in Oxford. At Terminals 1, 2 & 3, follow the signs to Central Bus Station, Bay 14A. At Terminal 4, you need to go to Bay 15. The journey takes 11/4 hours. Gatwick: At Gatwick Airport you will need to take the X80 bus. If you arrive at South Terminal, follow signs to Buses on the Upper Forecourt. If you land at North Terminal follow signs to Buses and go to Bay 4. The X80 will bring you to Gloucester Green bus station. The X80 runs generally every hour, at 15 minutes past the hour and the journey takes 2 hours. Stansted: Jet Link provides a direct service between Stansted Airport coach station and Gloucester Green in Oxford. The direct service takes approx. 3 hours. Luton: Jet Link also provides a direct service between Luton Airport and Gloucester Green in Oxford. The coach pick up point is situated in front of the terminal building. The direct service takes approx. 2 hrs. Alternatively, you can take the Green Line 757 coach link or the easyBus service from Luton to central London. Tickets can be pre-booked online by using the websites below or purchased on the day. Continue your journey either on the train from Paddington (see information above) or the bus from Victoria Station or Baker Street. Continue your 10-minute journey to Culham on First Great Western. Tickets can be pre-booked online, or purchased on the day. Travelling from the airports by train: From Heathrow: Option 1 – Heathrow Express to Paddington (London), change there for Oxford or Didcot. Option 2 – Heathrow to Reading Station by shuttle bus, then train to Oxford or Didcot. From Gatwick: Option 1 – Gatwick to London Bridge or Victoria (London), underground to Paddington, train to Oxford or Didcot. Option 2 - Gatwick to Reading, change there for Oxford or Didcot.
