North And Central Frontenac Recreation Guide
North and Central Frontenac
Recreation Guide
This booklet was produced by the
Frontenac News for the Northern Rural
Youth Partnership, with the assistance
from the Ontario Government through
the Ontario Trillium Foundation and
funds from the Townships of North &
Central Frontenac.
The Northern Rural Youth Partnership is
devoted to developing and encouraging
activities for youth in Central and North Frontenac. The partnership includes
representatives from agencies, such as Northern Frontenac Community Services,
the Limestone District School Board, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Townships
of North and Central Frontenac and many others.
At the first meeting of the Rural Youth Partnership, it was realised that not only
do youth and families need more activities and events, they often don’t know what
activities are available in the two townships.
So, the idea of this activity guide was developed. If you know of a program or event
that should be listed, please contact the Frontenac News, at 613-279-3150, or email
nfnews@frontenac.net for inclusion in future editions of this guide.

NORTH FRONTENAC PARK LANDS is a
collection of 184 backcountry campsites nestled
along the shores of 12 lakes atop the Madawaska
Highlands and Mississippi Valley watershed.
Carved from the Precambrian granite of the
Canadian Shield, North Frontenac Park Lands
were 2 ½ billion years in the making. Residing
entirely on crown land, it remains one of the most
pristine natural environments in the province.
North Frontenac Park Lands is frequently chosen
as an outdoor adventure destination by a variety
of youth groups and organizations such as Scouts
Canada and the Easter Seal Society as well as a
variety of boys’ and girls’ day camps.
A trip to North Frontenac Park Lands can
be both fun and educational. Why not make
an overnight camping excursion or just a day
canoeing or exploring. Kashwakamak, Big Gull
and Crotch lakes are particularly youth group
friendly with easy road access (accommodating
buses) and plenty of campsites for even the
largest groups. For information, call 1-800-2343953 or check www.northfrontenacparklands.
