Install Cruise Control AudioVox CCS-100 Page 1
FOR VTX 1300.. by Mike Grimaldi & Max French
1. Remove seat and left & right side covers.
2. Remove battery and covers for tool box.
3. I was not able to slide battery box up and
out as the tool box sides were in the way, I
used a dremel tool to cut enough of the
tool box sides so I was able to slide box out.
4. Cut tool box off of battery holder as the
pictures show. Be careful to not cut into
battery box. (part that holds battery.

and 2 slip on plugs. follow picture. Entire assembly
should be about 4 3/4 long.

to fit vacuum hose
we used 3/16
or next size over 1/8
drill a 21/64 hole, tap
with 1/8 inch pipe tap
and insert 1/8" brass barbed fitting
drill & tap hole before assembly (keep
drill debris out of chamber)
6. Glue plugs on coupling and install brass fitting.
Use Teflon Tape.
7. You can use any PVC you want just make sure
that it will fit in front of battery box.
8. Install vacuum chamber in front of battery box.
battery box must be removed to do this. We used
two plastic wire ties make sure your fitting is facing
the left side of bike you can see it in picture.
9. Do not install the battery until you
bolt the servo to the box
10. Remove back plate off of servo and set the dip
switches as follows. Audiovox calls it
"Programming the servo assembly"
Also you will find a black jumper under the LED
in the servo. Remove this jumper and discard it.
Switch #1=ON Switch #5=OFF
Switch #2=OFF Switch #6=OFF

MAIN WIRE HARNESS

REMOVE SMALL HARNESS (2 WIRES 1BLACK 1 GREY)
YOU DO NOT NEED THIS HARNESS CUT NEAR CONNECTOR
DO NOT REMOVE THE RED TAB ON THE BLUE LINE
AS THIS IS A NOISE FILTER
XTRA NOTES
WE BOUGHT SHRINK TUBING FROM HARBOR FREIGHT
AND RAN THE WIRES FROM THE SWITCH THROUGH IT
TO THE HEADLIGHT BUCKET BUT WE DID NOT SHRINK IT.
IT HIDES THE WIRES AND LOOKS LIKE THE STOCK WIRES
ON THE HANDLEBARS
Page 7
11. Connect main wire harness to servo.
and install the cover plate See paragraph15..
12. Install the servo against the battery box as in
picture make sure to leave plenty of room below
the servo so the swing arm will not hit it. We drilled
holes in the battery box to mount the servo
bracket with stove bolts head on inside of box. I
then put tape or whatever to protect the battery
from the bolt heads. (Small Bolts)
13. Install battery and hook up cables if you want.
14. You need to run the cable along the frames
back bone on the left side. MAKE SURE YOU DO
NOT PUT A SHARP BEND IN THE SERVO CABLE. I ran
the cable so when you install the side covers you
can see it. Just above and left of the cover.
See Plate 9
15. As you run your harness through the wire loom
make sure you run the purple wire as in picture
this wire will hook to the right side under the cover
to the brake light. You can unplug the brake light
and connect into it with a pig tail or use a crimp
line connector. See Plate 9.

TAKE PURPLE WIRE FROM SERVO HARNESS
OUT OFF LOOM AND TAPE BOTH SIDES OF
LOOM TO KEEP WIRE OUT AND LOOM
CLOSED. THIS GOES TO YOUR BRAKE LIGHT.
PHOTO ALSO OF NAPA 1 WAY VALVE
FOR THE VACUUM WE WILL GO OVER
THAT IN THE VACUUM LINE INSTALL.

16. Black wire in harness attach to ground I used
a frame bolt on the battery box.
17. Blue wire from harness goes to the left front
coil negative side(Blue & Yellow). You should be
pulling these wires out of the plastic tubing as
you run the harness along frame.
18. The remaining wires in harness continue to
back of headlight bucket and place inside
of headlight housing.
19. Install cruise switch and run all the wires to the
inside of the headlight assembly.
20. Rout the servo cable along left side of frame
when you reach the front space in the frame
where the 2 plastic covers are remove these
covers (they have a clip on the top of them
slide this clip to the rear and they will come off)
run the servo cable through this opening in the
frame to get to the carburetor side.
21. Remove air box exposing carburetor.
22. Cut the ends off of the supplied bracket from
the kit as in picture. And install the bracket on
side of frame as in photo. You will need to
space this bracket out from frame I used a
3/8 inch nut. This will keep it off of the throttle
cables. I drilled a hole in the frame and
Page 10
threaded it to 1/4 inch and I put a second self
tap screw in the base of it. You need two screws
(or bolts) to hold this bracket as this is where the
force of the pull comes from.
23. You will need to heat up the back of the air box
with a heat gun where it comes in contact with
the servo cable and mount and with a broom
stick we vertically bent it in so that the bracket
would not hit the box.
24. Install the cable in the bracket and leave loose.
25. On end of bracket put the chain balls we used
9 balls do not use less than 5.Less balls would
give you more space to work with.
26. Use part #25 the large one and place this on
throttle linkage (see photo) on my bike the large
circle that goes on the linkage was too tight so I
used a dremel tool and gently opened up the
hole just enough to make it slide free on the
linkage.
27. Install the chain ball and #25 on the rod (you will
need to remove the small carter pin and rod)
reassemble the rod and make sure the linkage
does not bind and is free. You need about 1/8
inch slack in the cable. To tight and it will hold
the throttle open and to much will give you lag
time when it engages.
28. Install the air box (make sure it does not bind the
cable (this was a pain in the butt) when you install
the air box make sure to hook up all the lines to it.
Page 11
you might want to wait on the air box until
you install the vacuum lines.)
29. Now for the vacuum lines. (easy) There is a
line that comes from the back of the carb
and goes to the valve on the fuel tank. This
line is the vacuum to shut off fuel flow at the
tank when the engine is off.
30. Cut this line and install a plastic t-fitting 3/16"
run a vacuum hose from this t-fitting
back to where the vacuum chamber is.
31. Install NAPA #2-970 one way vacuum valve
on this line at the battery area. (see plate 9)
Follow the way the color of the valve is. The
engine side should be able to suck and the
chamber side should not.
32. After installing the one way valve connect
a short piece of tube on it and put a tee
(just like before) fitting in. One line goes to
the vacuum chamber and the other to end
to the servo.
33. Drink a beer and be happy you are almost
done. Just need to hook up wires.
34. Now we go Inside the headlight.

35. Connect together brown wire to brown, yellow
wire to yellow, green wire to green and red wire
to red. Black wire to ground in headlight bucket
36. Fused harness Orange to switched 12+ this
wire must loose power when you turn off ignition.
37. Red to red. and grey wire to grey from switch.
38. When you turn ignition on the light on the switch
should light. And when you push cruise switch
to on the center light of switch will light.
Extra Information
We extended the harness from the switch by
cutting off about 4 inches from the pin ends
added some length and reattached the pins
we then installed the pins in the color coded
connector and plugged both wire harnesses in.
You can hook it up as you like we did it this way
so we could unplug them if we wanted.
