The MDI Compact Collapse & Wrap Sign System is comprised
of an MDI Compact sign and a WindMaster sign stand (each
sold separately). Once the sign is mounted to the stand, it becomes
one unit and, if desired, the sign can stay in place in the stand.
To store, the sign instantly collapses down using the single trigger

The Vehicle Mount Sign Holder attaches easily to a vehicle grab bar
and holds MDI’s 36” or 48” fast-deploying MDI Compact® sign or

The MDI Compact sign collapses and folds to be stored in place on
the bracket attached to the grab bar so it’s ready for use in seconds.

holders. The bracket fits into any 2” square hitch receiver and holds MDI’s

rotated 45° in either direction for optimum viewing. Available in two sizes. The

roll-up signface available. The EPDM rubber straps allow
the signface to expand and contract as needed in varying
weather conditions. The straps fasten securely to the

steel components.

Confined Space Standby / Rescue
Working in confined spaces is risky business that requires organizations to have an effective rescue plan. START Group’s confined space
Attendant/Entry Supervisor and standby/rescue teams are present to assist with safeguarding the initial entry personnel and trained to take
immediate action in an emergency.
START Group’s unique approach to confined space Attendant/Entry Supervisor and standby/rescue activities is one of the best in the country.
Our teams are comprised of highly trained members who place meticulous focus on worker safety, along with an attention to detail that is
unparalleled in the industry. Not only are our personnel trained and equipped to provide these services, but we also offer in-depth confined
space and rescue training to hundreds of organizations across the country.
START Group’s confined space Attendant/Entry Supervisor and standby/rescue teams are comprised of personnel specifically trained in
technical rescue and emergency medical services. Most team members hold EMT and/or Paramedic certifications and all are practicing or
retired fire/rescue personnel from full service fire departments in the Chicagoland area. In addition to performing these confined space activities,
all of our team members are instructors for confined space training courses conducted by START Group.
Another differentiating factor of START Group confined space Attendant/Entry Supervisor and standby/rescue services is the establishment of
specific team assignments at every job site. Team Leader, Monitor/Ventilation, and Rigger/Entry Team positions are assigned prior to the beginning
of each entry. These positions are not totally inclusive to all of the activities that need to be completed during a confined space rescue, but assist
with overall scene management and allow for emergency rescuers to stay within their response lanes during an emergency. START Group
personnel also conduct practice rescue operations during each and every shift at all job sites.
◆ Standby/Initial Entry Services
START Group personnel provide confined space Attendant/Entry Supervisor and
standby/rescue activities in all entry conditions and complete assignments that are both
site- and job-specific. These activities and services are tailored to site-specific emergency
preparedness needs and include:
- Attendant and Entry Supervisor Role
- Standby Rescue in Non-IDLH Environments
- Standby Rescue in IDLH Environments
The Attendant/Entry Supervisor and standby/rescue services provided by START Group meet
both OSHA 1910.146 and NFPA rescue requirements. During these activities, START Group
provides the entry and rescue hardware for all START Group personnel.
◆ Confined Space Rescue Services
When lives are on the line and every second counts, START Group’s expertly trained, focused
teams are ready to react within the required four to six minutes that are mandated for entry
into the involved confined space. To be successful in achieving the objective of rescuing
entrants, START Group teams conduct a practice rescue operation on each and every shift at
all job sites. If a confined space rescue is necessary, START Group personnel will conduct the
following activities:
- Enter the confined space following OSHA 1910.146
- Complete air quality control activities (including air quality evaluation, ventilation,
use of IDLH respirators for both rescuers and entrants)
- Determine if the rescue is Non-IDLH or IDLH in nature
- Patient package and remove entrants
- Begin EMS care and summon appropriate outside fire/rescue services

TRAFFIC INCIDENT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM:
In order to bring your organization in compliance with the Manual on
Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and NFPA Standards 1500,
1561, and 1901: MDI and START Group offer the following comprehensive
training and loss control packages:
◆ Awareness Level Classroom Training Session - Completion of a turnkey classroom training session informing all participants of the critical
aspects of Chapter 6 and 6I of the MUTCD, along with the traffic
incident management general requirements and requirements for minor,
intermediate and major duration incidents. Safe positioning of response
apparatus and appropriate PPE will also be described during the training. The traffic incident management requirements
will be related to the activities of all emergency responders (i.e., fire, rescue, police, emergency medical services, towing
and recovery personnel, and hazardous materials contractors). In order to assist with program implementation, solutions on
advance warning, channelizing, flagging, and apparatus positioning will be provided through Quick Reference Guidebooks,
typical applications and sample Standard Operations Guidelines.
◆ Operations Level Classroom and Manipulative Skills Training Session - Completion of all aspects of the Awareness Level
classroom training session, along with additional skills training. Group problem-solving involving typical applications and
actual (real time) skills evaluations will be completed in order to reinforce selected aspects of the classroom training. These
evaluations will be completed at roadways selected by you and will utilize your emergency response apparatus. Training will
involve use of your organization’s equipment, along with additional equipment provided by MDI and START Group.
The Awareness Level classroom training session lasts approximately 4 hours and involves a maximum of 30 attendees. The
Operations Level classroom and skills training session lasts approximately 8 hours and involves a maximum of 20 attendees.

The MDI rail response and evacuation equipment is designed for use by first responders and transit personnel
during a transit emergency. The equipment provides quick access to those difficult to reach areas of the transit system
(elevated structures, subway tunnels, remote areas). The equipment focuses on emergency scene mitigation by quickly
and effectively moving response personnel and equipment to an emergency scene. In addition, the equipment addresses
