Also featured on-site is a games room, hot tub, tuning room and drying facilities. Pinewood Lodge is a close walk to town and shops. Breakfast is usually served continental style from 7:00am. A Typical Ski Day in Queenstown: 7:30am - Transfer by private coach to the resort and get organised for a day on the slopes. 8:15am - Arrive and get a few rides in before your lessons 9:00am - Group Lesson (1.5 hrs) 12:00pm - Lunch (self catered) 1:00pm - Spend the afternoon enjoying your favourite trails! 4:00pm - Transfer back to the Lodge for the evening Remarkables Resort is one of the highest ski resorts in the South Island and gets all day sunshine – a great combination! The youngest ski area in the region, The Remarkables opened in 1985. Its youth is reflected in its popularity among young, hip snowboarders and freeskiers who love the terrain parks and the 150m FIS specification Parklife Superpipe. At the other end of the scale the Homeward Bound run is widely considered New Zealand’s best backcountry trail inside ski area boundaries. And there’s a purpose built Tubing Park for those family members looking for something not-too-serious to do! There’s also an award-winning ski and snowboard school, café, retail shop and equipment hire and regular live music on the deck or in the café. Day 4: Gondola Ride and Mountain Luge Track: Often considered to be the “most fun” activity students have on tour, a stunning gondola ride accesses a downhill luge track which overlooks the Queenstown lakes district and beyond. 5 Trips may not seem enough! This is a fantastic adrenalin rush for all ages and the view from the track is the best in the world. Jet Boating trip on the Kawarau River: A spectacular Jet boat ride on the mighty Kawarau River. Through the heart of one of New Zealands most historic gold mining regions. One of the specifically designed Jet boats and highly trained drivers will take you on a thrilling ride - skimming past rocky outcrops at close range, twisting and turning down the river at breath taking speeds - hold tight for the full 360º spins! Day 5 - 7: Coronet Peak Ski Days!! Coronet Peak is the South Island’s most popular snow sports area and with good reason. Diverse terrain, fantastic views, proximity to Queenstown and a cosmopolitan ambience create a superb winter experience for every level of snow sport enthusiast. Regarded by many as the birthplace of South Island snow sports, Coronet Peak is host to many sporting and social events including the FIS rated Southern Cup and the Southern Hemisphere’s ultimate winter celebration, the Queenstown Winter Festival. It is also the training ground of New Zealand’s National Ski Team. Maori Traditional Hangi Dinner and Cultural Talk: Groups are treated to a real "taste" of Maori culture; a traditionally laid Hangi will give you all a feast of Maori food. Hangi actually refers to the method of cooking in the ground with hot stones; various types of meats and vegetables, such as kumara or sweet potato, are wrapped in leaves. These items of wrapped food are then placed in a hole in the ground and cooked with hot stones. A local Maori elder will also attend and explain to the group the traditions surrounding the Hangi preparation and cooking method as well as local lore.
