Control Systems Engineer Job Description:
A supplier in the metro Detroit area is looking for a Control System Design Engineer.
The engineer will be responsible for:
- Developing vehicle motion control algorithms for active safety features that run in embedded
controllers. This includes defining requirements, designing algorithms, implementation in simulation
environments and vehicles, tests of system performance and analysis of results. Features are developed
in Matlab / Simulink, simulated in CarSim vehicle models and vehicle tested in real-time rapid
prototyping and production-intent hardware. Calibration and software development to support
production implementation in embedded controllers is desired.
Position Requirements
- Establish control system requirements and performance targets
- Identify the sensor technologies capable to meet feature performance requirements
- Design and develop control algorithms to deliver the vehicle response or warning
- Perform analysis and simulation to identify performance limitations and optimize system function
- Implement control algorithms in Simulink and dSPACE real time systems in vehicles
- Design vehicle tests to verify control system performance and robustness
- Perform, or design and document, in-vehicle control system calibration methods.
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess interpersonal skills to work effectively with coworkers and customers.
- Development of active safety features based on the following vehicle environment sensing
technologies

Guidance and Control Systems/ Sr. Engineer
Description:
Excellent opportunity for a Lead Engineer with over 10 years experience in the field of autonomous
vehicle guidance, navigation and control with 5+ years in a technical leadership role.
Guidance, navigation and control and estimation systems design and analysis. Development of flight
controls and guidance algorithms and modes. Non-linear 6d of simulation and linear control analysis
tool development with expertise in Monte Carlo statistical analysis techniques. Other duties include
definition of software requirements, flight software implementation via Matlab/Simulink environments
and specification and selection of guidance, navigation and control system hardware. Lead a team of
engineers to meet specified program and technical objectives. Work independently to develop
conceptual designs within specified requirements and constraints.
Requirements:
Candidates must have a working knowledge of associated subsystem development, requirements
analysis and flow down, generation of specifications, and design verification. Candidates must have
excellent communications skill both verbal and written and be able to work in a structured systems
engineering environment.
Minimum BS in Engineering, Math or Physics required. Master of Science in Engineering preferred.

You may be hired for one of an array of positions in the engineering disciplines. Projects are wideranging. Some examples of duties you may be performing are:
**As a Research Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in the research and development of
electrochemical systems (specifically advanced batteries, fuel cells and regenerative fuel cells) for
future NASA space power system applications;
**As a Wind Tunnel Mechanical Engineer, you will be involved the direction of experimental
aerospace tests in major research test facilities and the management of these aerospace research/test
facilities including resource management planning, and project management of sophisticated
experiments and the development of complex test articles, as well as the development of new test
capabilities or significant modifications to the existing research/test facilities;
**As a Wind Tunnel Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in the planning, design, development,
testing or evaluation of electrical and electronic equipment and instrumentation systems for the
acquisition and reduction of experimental data and the control of process systems associated with
specialized research testing in the wind tunnel and propulsion research test facilities;
** As an Aerospace Engineer, you will conduct research in propulsion control and diagnostics in
support of NASA Aeronautics Mission programs;
**As a Facilities Architect, you will provide architectural design support for Construction of Facilities
(CoF) projects and work order tasks in the Facilities Division;
**As a Facilities Mechanical Engineer, you will provide mechanical system design support for CoF
projects and work order tasks;
**As a Research Materials Engineer, you will conduct fundamental and applied research on the
structure/property/durability relationships of aerospace materials and components such as polymers,
metals, composites, optical materials, nano-structured materials, electronic components, and coatings;
**As a Research Aerospace Engineer, you will study radiation, convection, and conduction heat
transfer within solids, fluids, and vacuums. This work includes the transport of species and particles
with the surrounding medium;
**As a Telecommunications, Electronics Engineer, you may develop advanced communications and/or
networking capabilities for NASA’s Space Communications and Networking (SCaN) Program
including advanced geostationary communications satellites and space communication demonstration
projects or participate in Systems Engineering Activities in support of the development of Space
Communication Systems for future NASA Missions;
**As a Liquid Propulsion Systems, Aerospace Engineer, you may conduct engineering of space
propulsion systems (both chemical propulsion and electric propulsion systems).
Qualifications and Evaluations
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
You must have a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university for any position covered by
this notice.
Basic Education Requirement: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major
study in engineering, physical science, mathematics, life sciences, computer science, or other field of
science. Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position. For
architectural positions, the following applies: Degree: architecture; or related field that included 60
semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester
hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural
technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
Candidates will be evaluated using established qualification standards approved by the Office of
Personnel Management. The following is a summary only, and specific requirements will depend on
the position for which you are applying.
For GS-7: You must also have either 1) one year of relevant professional experience equal to the GS-5
level; OR 2) one full year of graduate study; OR 3) a combination of the two. You may also qualify
based on Superior Academic Achievement Standards.
To qualify based on Superior Academic Achievement Standards, you must meet one of the following
requirements:
(1) You must be in the upper third of your graduating class in the college, university, or major
