It provides information for the installation and use of the DisplayVue A15. Installation and maintenance should be performed by experienced technicians and contractors only. DisplayVue A15 is an Intel Atom 15” Digital Signage Computer. 6 Product Safety Electrical Safety Precautions Basic electrical safety precautions should be followed to protect yourself from harm at all times and your DisplayVue™ A15 from damage. Become familiar with the location of the power switch on your DisplayVue™ unit as well as the emergency power-off switch in your room/building or the electrical outlet that is powering your DisplayVue™ system. In the event of an emergency where an electrical accident has occurred you can quickly remove the power from your system. Do not work alone when working with high voltage components. Power should always be disconnected from the system when removing or installing system components, such as the motherboard, LCD, memory, etc. When disconnecting power, you should first power down the system from within the operating system and then unplug the power from the system. General Safety Precautions Keep your work area around the system clean and free of clutter. Observe caution when removing the front cover glass from DisplayVue™ A15. Use the included pry tool to help remove the cover glass. When handling or working with the front cover glass, wear thick leather gloves to protect your hands in the event the glass breaks. Only professional certified contractors should install DisplayVue™ A15 to a building wall. DisplayVue™ A15 requires a minimum of two people to install to a wall. One person should be holding DisplayVue™ A15 in place on the wall while the other fastens it. Electrostatic Discharge Precautions Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is generated by two objects with different electrical charges coming into contact with each other. An electrical discharge is created to neutralize this difference, which can damage electronic components and printed circuit boards. The following measures are generally sufficient to neutralize this difference before contact is made to protect your equipment from ESD: • Use a grounded wrist strap designed to prevent static discharge. • Keep all electronic components and printed circuit boards (PCBs) in their antistatic bags until ready for use. • Touch a grounded metal object before handling DisplayVue™. • Do not let components or PCBs come into contact with your clothing, which may retain a charge even if you are wearing a wrist strap. • Handle PCBs by their edges only; do not touch its components, peripheral chips, memory modules or contacts. • When handling chips or modules, avoid touching their pins. • Put the electronic components and peripherals back into their antistatic bags when not in use. • For grounding purposes, make sure your computer chassis provides excellent conductivity between the power supply, the case, the mounting fasteners and the motherboard. 7 Introduction Overview Enoch Systems’ DisplayVue™ A15, 15” Digital Sign combines the latest touch screen technology with a visually appealing design. Graphics are powered by PowerVR SGX 545 GPU which provides almost twice the graphics performance as compared to the previous generation. At 100% load DisplayVue™ A15 consumes less than 25W. 8 Easy Installation and Maintenance DisplayVue's™ design and construction make installation a snap. It can easily fit in or on a wall, or in a kiosk. Thin and light weight, it can be installed in minutes. The totally flat front panel glass is removable, which allows you to quickly mount and secure to DisplayVue™. You can maintain DisplayVue™ and access the inside without having to take it off the wall. DisplayVue™ does not require any proprietary brackets to mount; instead there are internal mounting holes that allow you to bolt DisplayVue™ directly to the target surface. DisplayVue™ A15 is designed to be mounted either landscape or portrait mode. Built-in mounting holes saves you time and gives the option to recess mount or surface mount DisplayVue™. The lightweight aluminum construction allows you to mount DisplayVue™ without the need for special drywall reinforcement. DisplayVue™ A15 also features a 100mm x 100mm VESA mounting hole pattern for virtually endless mounting options. Power over Ethernet plus (PoE+) DisplayVue™ A15 can be powered using Power-over-Ethernet technology which combines data and power over a standard Category 5 cable. This unique power system simplifies installation and reduces installation cost. PoE eliminates the need to have a nearby AC outlet or to hire an expensive electrician to run new outlets. For single unit installation environments a single port midspan PoE+ injector can be used to power DisplayVue™ A15. However in installation environments where multiple units are in proximity to each other, a multiport PoE+ switch might be desirable. You must have a PoE+ switch or midspan PoE+ injector that is IEEE 802.3at-2009 compliant and provides at least 30W per port to operate DisplayVue™ A15 using PoE+. If you need help deciding on the right PoE+ equipment to use for DisplayVue™ A15, contact us at sales@enochsystems.com or call us toll-free at 1-877-722-1116 for assistance. As an option DisplayVue™ A15 can also be powered directly using 12VDC or an optional AC power adapter may be purchased. About Projected Capacitive Touch (PCAP) Technology Using the latest in touch-screen technology, DisplayVue™ A15 features optional projected capacitive (PCAP) multi-touch technology that is glove friendly, durable and offers excellent optical performance over other touchscreen technologies. PCAP touch-screen technology is a variant of capacitive touch technology. PCAP touch screens are made up of a matrix of rows and columns of conductive material, layered on sheets of glass. Voltage applied to this grid creates a uniform electrostatic field, which can be measured. When a conductive object, such as a finger, comes into contact with a PCAP panel, it distorts the local electrostatic field at that point. This is measurable as a change in capacitance. If a finger bridges the gap between two of the "tracks," the charge field is further interrupted and detected by the controller. The capacitance can be changed and measured at every individual point on the grid (intersection). Therefore, this system is able to accurately track touches. Due to the top layer of a PCT being glass, it is a more robust solution than less costly resistive touch technology. Additionally, unlike traditional capacitive touch technology, it is possible for a PCAP system to sense a passive stylus or gloved fingers. DisplayVue's multi-touch technology, on Windows 7 or 8, supports a full range of different operations from simple touch to 2-point multi-touch gestures including rotating, zooming, panning, scrolling and more. 9 DisplayVue A15 Specifications Table 1 Technical Specifications for DV-A15 DISPLAY Screen Size 15” TFT with LED Backlight Aspect Ratio 4:3 Resolution XGA (1024×768) Pixel Pitch (mm) 0.297 Display Color 16.2M colors Operating Life 50,000 hours TOUCHSCREEN (OPTIONAL) Type Projected capacitive Resolution (X/Y) 21504 x 15872 Transparency 90% Maximum Touch Points 2 Touch Accuracy +/- 1.5mm PROCESSOR & CHIPSET Processor Intel Atom Dual Core N2600 1.6GHz processor Processor Cooling Passive Heatsink Chipset Intel NM10 Express Chipset MEMORY Memory Capacity Up to 4GB of single channel DDR3 800 MHz memory Memory Sockets 1x 204-Pin SO-DIMM DDR3 socket DIMM Sizes 2GB, 4GB STANDARD / INTEGRATED DEVICES Network Controllers Two Realtek RTL8111EVL PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controllers with Enhanced Surge Protection Supports 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and 1000BASE-T, RJ45 output Only one RJ-45 port accessible from exterior IEEE 802.3at-2009 compliant Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) (optional) Graphics Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3600 @400MHz BIOS American Megatrends Watchdog Timer 1-255 min/sec Audio Realtek ALC662 HD Audio codec Super IO Fintek F71808A and F81216AD SOFTWARE Supported Operating Systems Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32-bit DisplayVue A15 has limited support for other operating systems, contact us at sales@enochsystems.com or call us toll-free at 1-877-722-1116 for more information. 10 I/O PORTS External I/O Ports 2x USB 2.0 Ports 1x Gigabit Ethernet interface (10/100/1000 BASE-T RJ-45) Internal I/O Ports 3x Serial RS-232 COM header 1x Serial RS-232/422/485 COM header (12V/5V selectable) 1x Gigabit Ethernet interface (10/100/1000 BASE-T RJ-45) 4x USB 2.0 ports 1x 8 bit GPIO header 1x CIR header 1x 3.5mm Audio connector (Line-OUT) 1x Line-Out header 1x MIC header EXPANSION SLOTS Supported Bus Interfaces Mini PCI Express Expansion Slots 1x Full-Height Mini PCI Express slot STORAGE AND MEDIA Number of Hard Drives Supported 1x 2.5" fixed SATA 3Gb/s hard drive Interface Type Supported 2x SATA 3Gb/s ports Solid State Storage 1x CFast socket Solid State Drives Available Storage Controllers Intel NM10 Express Chipset CHASSIS AND POWER Construction Aluminum chassis with fanless design and powder coated black finish Front cover glass, with printed black border on back, is heat tempered and removable for maintenance Mounting Built in mounting holes for surface or recess mounting Can be mounted portrait or landscape VESA 100 standard mounting hole pattern System Cooling Fanless Chassis Dimensions (W x H x D) 404.1mm x 320.1mm x 36.7mm 15.91" x 12.60" x 1.45" Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) Power Options IEEE 802.3at-2009 compliant Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) Customers who order the POE+ option must have a midspan POE+ injector or POE+ switch, that is capable of providing at least 30W per port to operate DisplayVue™ A15, sold separately 12VDC 12V DC input via 5.5mm barrel jack power connector Customers who order the 12VDC option must have 12VDC source or an AC adapter to operate DisplayVue™ A15, sold separately ENVIRONMENT Operating Temperature -10°C to 30°C (14°F to 86°F) Non Operating Temperature -30°C to 85°C (-22°F to 185°F) 11 External Overview Front Bottom Figure 1 Front Bottom External View Two USB 2.0 ports Keyhole push-button momentary power switch Rear Top/Back Figure 2 Rear Top/Back External View Top cable knockout inlet access to Ethernet port or power connector. This area should be situated in a clean, static-free, dust-free environment that is well ventilated. Avoid areas where heat, electrical noise and electromagnetic fields are generated. 15 Removing the Cover Glass on DisplayVue™ A15 The cover glass on DisplayVue™ A15 is secured to the system with four clips that make it difficult for average users to remove with their fingers. The added force required to remove the glass is necessary in order to deter the public from tampering with DisplayVue™ A15. Included with DisplayVue™ A15 is a pry tool that can be used to remove the cover glass from the chassis. Do not use any other device to remove the glass from DisplayVue™ A15, as this may cause damage to the chassis and glass. Such damage is not covered under the warranty. To remove the cover glass, insert the broad end of the pry tool into the notch opening near the USB ports. While holding the glass, to prevent it from falling, twist the pry tool as if you were turning a key in a door. This twisting action will release this corner of the cover glass from the clip. Work your way all around the border of the glass, using the same twisting motion, until all four clips have been disengaged. Figure 7 Removing the cover glass from DisplayVue™ A15 Installing the Cover Glass on DisplayVue™ A15 Using two hands to hold the cover glass securely, carefully line up all four posts on the back of the glass with the receiving clips inside the chassis. Once lined up, use approximately 5lbs of force to push all four posts into the clips. Powering on DisplayVue™ A15 The BIOS for DisplayVue™ A15 is configured to automatically turn it on when power is applied. If for whatever reason it does not power on, you can turn on DisplayVue™ by depressing the keyhole push-button momentary power switch found in Figure 1. Power over Ethernet plus (PoE+) power option If your DisplayVue™ A15 system is configured to be powered by Power over Ethernet plus (PoE+), you must have a PoE+ switch or midspan PoE+ injector that is IEEE 802.3at-2009 16 compliant and provides at least 30W per port. Using a standard Category 5 patch cable, simply plug one end into a powered port on your switch or injector and the other end into DisplayVue™ A15 Ethernet port which can be found at the back of the system, refer to Figure 2. DisplayVue™ A15 should power up automatically and boot into the operating system. 12VDC AC Adapter power option If your DisplayVue™ A15 system is configured to be powered by an AC adapter with 12VDC, simply plug the barrel plug connector from the AC adapter into the barrel jack which can be found at the back of the system, refer to Figure 2. Connecting DisplayVue™ A15 to your Network Power over Ethernet plus (PoE+) power option If your DisplayVue™ A15 system is configured to use Power over Ethernet plus (PoE+), simply connect your PoE+ switch or midspan PoE+ injector to your network using a Category 5 patch cable. The powered CAT5 line from the PoE+ switch or midspan injector will provide data and power to DisplayVue™ A15. 12VDC AC Adapter power option If your DisplayVue™ A15 system is configured to use an AC adapter, then connect the Ethernet port found at the back of the system to your network. Working with USB Port Blockers (optional) As an option you can order USB port blockers to prevent unwanted access to the USB ports on DisplayVue™ A15. A separate key is also available for purchase for authorized users. These locks are color coded so only like colors will work together. For example only gray keys will only work with gray locks. The USB port blocker system is comprised of a “key” and “lock” assembly which plugs into the USB port. To install the port blockers on your unit, you must install a lock on to the key. Then insert the lock into the corresponding USB port and release the latch. The lock should remain in place, inside the USB port. To remove the lock, simply insert the key without a lock installed into the lock inside the USB port. Push the latch forward on the key to “grab” the lock and simply pull out. Figure 8 Installing port blockers in DisplayVue™ A15 17 Care and Maintenance Restart/Shutdown Your Device If possible, it is always a best practice to restart or shut down your device from within the operating system. Disconnecting power while the system is running is not recommended and can lead to operating system corruption. If you are unable to access the operating system to turn off the device, then using a small object, such as the pointed end of the included pry tool , depress the keyhole push-button momentary power switch found in Figure 1 for approximately 10 seconds. The system should then turn off. To power the system back on after manually shutting it down, simply depress the same keyhole push-button momentary power switch. Caring for your Device Taking good care of DisplayVue™ A15 will ensure trouble-free operation and reduce the risk of damage. • • • • • • • • Keep your device away from excessive moisture and extreme temperatures. Do not place anything on top of your device or drop objects on your device. Do not drop your device or subject it to severe shock. Do not subject your device to sudden and severe temperature changes. This could cause moisture condensation inside the unit, which could damage your device. In the event of moisture condensation, allow your device to dry out completely before use. Avoid touching the cover glass or display with sharp objects to prevent damage. Never clean the interior of DisplayVue™ A15 while powered on. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the screen and the exterior of your device. Do not use paper towels to clean the screen.
