Company Profile Background Plassim was initially established in 1960, with Swiss and German know-how, by Kibbutz Merchavia to manufacture plastic pipes. Plastic piping systems in the world in general, and in Israel in particular, were few and far between at that time but Plassim’s investment in product development and marketing introduced plastic piping systems to Israel. Plassim is still Israel’s largest manufacturer of plastic pipes and over the years has developed it’s activities to include other related products. Plassim is owned by The Midle East Tube Company (71%) and Kibbutz Merchavia (29%) and is part of the Gaon-Agru Group. Products Plastic piping and accessories for the transport of water and gas under pressure, underground sewerage and drainage, soil and waste systems inside buildings, cable ducts and irrigation systems. The majority of Plassim’s product range is manufactured according to Israeli and International standards. Plassim holds 12 licenses from the Israeli Standards Institution to mark products with the Israeli standards mark. (See appendix A). Production Technology Plassim manufactures pipes by extrusion: - Polyethylene pipes up to 1200mm in diameter - PVC pipes up to 710mm The Quality System Plassim’s quality system was originally certified to ISO 9002 in 1995 and in 2009 the system was upgraded to ISO 9001:2008. Plassim is certified for the following field of activities: Design, development and manufacture of pipes and accessories made from plastic for infrastructure, agriculture, industry and building. 010813 RevO Page 3 of 8 2. Quality Policy Plassim’s management will encourage a “Quality Culture” in order to generate profit for it’s owners over time. This quality culture will create added value for it’s customers and ensure satisfaction from the company’s products. This will be achieved by implementing a quality management system according to ISO 9001:2008 and the Israel Ministry of Defence Procurement Department’s Qualified Supplier List, Level A. - - The management will strive to give Plassim’s customers a sense of dependability in it’s products and services by emphasising the following: Full and on going compliance with product standards, customer specifications and requirements. Compliance with delivery times. Reliable solutions to problems. A high level of technical support. Reaction to faults and complaints to the satisfaction of customers. Plassim’s management is committed towards continuous improvement and will implement it by: Measuring, monitoring and improving the company’s processes. Carrying out regular quality audits. Corrective and preventative action. Regular reviews by management which will include a review of quality objectives. Instituting quality circles for specific areas of concern. Quality Procedures The company’s quality procedures are in accordance with the requirements for quality management systems as stated in the ISO 9001:2008 standard. Exclusions The following subjects, as defined in section 7 of the ISO 9001:2008 standard, do not apply to Plassim’s Quality System. - 7.5.2 Process validation All product can be measured and monitored during or after the production process. - 7.5.4 Customer property No customer property is used or incorporated in Plassim’s products. 6. Legal and regulatory requirements The following legal and regulatory requirements have been identified. - Israeli Standards 884, 532, 958 and 4476 Plassim is licensed by the Standards Institution of Israel to mark the Standardsmark on the following: - PVC-U pipes for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage to SI 884 - PVC-U pipes for water supply to SI 532 - PP pipes for soil and waste to SI 958 - HDPE pipes for soil and waste to SI 4476 These standards have a formal mandatory status. - Drinking Water Regulations Plassim’s products, that are intended to be used for the supply of potable water, fulfill the relevant national regulations for the effect of products in contact with drinking water. 010813 RevO Page 7 of 8 APPENDIX A LIST OF PIPES LICENSED BY THE ISRAELI STANDARDS INSTITUTION TO MARK THE ISRAELI STANDARDSMARK LICENCE NO.
