Quick Reference Guide: RT-Series Joker Manual Depth Control Selector Valve – Turn to ‘FIELD’ (1) LIFT – Green (2) REAR AXLE – Blue (3) FOLD – Yellow RT Joker Front Hitch Rear Tractor Remotes Hydraulic Connections: Entering Field: 4. 5. 6. Rear Safety Stop 3. Set Wing Pressure: 1. Set wing pressure by tapping SCV (3) until gauge reads desired pressure. Typical settings are 0-300 psi for previously tilled/soft ground and 300-500 psi for untilled/hard ground. If desired pressure is exceeded, place SCV in float and reset pressure. DO NOT EXCEED 500 PSI! Wing Pressure Gauge – Set to 300-500 PSI 2. Turn Selector Valve to “FIELD” operation. Fully extend rear packer cylinders (1). Turn SCV to 100% flow. Raise machine (2) and wings (3) so it is no longer resting on the wing lock pins. Remove the rear cylinder safety stop, front stops and wing lock pins. Unfold wings (3) and put hydraulic remote into float position. Raise rear axle (2) so implement is resting on the packer. Front Depth Stop 1. 2. 3. Raise outside gauge wheels off the ground to their highest set points. (The gauge wheels need to be lifted so they do not interfere with correctly setting the depth control.) See ‘Gauge Wheel Setting’ below. For shallower working depth, turn the handle clockwise. For deeper working depth, turn the handle counterclockwise. NOTE: The machine will also need to be leveled by either adding, or removing stops to the front hydraulic cylinder. Depth Control Gauge 1. Shallower – clockwise. Deeper - Counterclockwise Depth Setting: 1. 2. For shallower working depth of the machine, add stops. For deeper working depth of the machine, remove stops. Tracking: 1. 2. If machine is tracking to the right, add more stops to the front cylinder. If machine is tracking to the left, remove stops from the front cylinder. NOTE: Add or remove stops to the front cylinder until the machine tracks straight. Depth Control Stops Leveling: * Refer to Owner’s Manual for complete operating instructions and safety information. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Lower the machine to the predetermined set depth into the ground and start tilling. Run machine slowly (5-6 mph) at set depth. Adjust gauge wheels so wings are level with center frame. DO NOT LIFT MACHINE OUT OF GROUND! Turn the turnbuckles to lower the gauge wheels to the ground. NOTE: The tires should only support the machine on the ground in case of obstructions and following the contour of the field. The wheels should not lift the wings when in operation. The gauge wheels keep the machine steady and maintain the desired working depth. The wheels only have a sensing and supporting function. NOTE: The gauge wheel should not be set until the depth setting has been completed. Increase operation to desired speed (8-10 mph) and make fine adjustments as necessary. Depth Gauge Gauge Wheel Setting: Stop machine and lower machine to set depth (1). Turn Selector Valve to “ROAD” mode. Lower transport axle to ground (2). Extend front hitch cylinder completely (1). Fold wings (3). Insert rear cylinder safety stop, front stops and wing lock pins. Remove soil buildup from machine. Transport Speed 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Adjust Turnbuckle Leaving the Field: Troubleshooting: Problem Cause Solution Machine does not track straight. Machine is not level front to back Entire machine plugs when running. Ground speed too slow; working depth too deep. Wings not running level. Tractor SCV not set to 100%; excessive soil buildup on machine. Packer is not being retracted for transport. Adjust Hitch Offset. Verify all cylinders stop moving before SCV returns to neutral Increase ground speed up to 10 mph. Reduce tillage depth. Reduce wing pressure, adjust gauge wheels. Set SCV to 100%. Remove soil from machine frame. Retract rear packer using transport valve. Inspect packers for bent, flattened, fractured or broken tongues. Wings plug when running. Machine lifts slow. Packer tongues failing on center of machine. Maintenance: (Check Machine Daily) Grease Points – Front Hitch Pivots, Wing Fold Pivots, Gauge Wheel Turnbuckles, Manual Depth Control Rod & Axle Hubs. Inspection – Road Lighting & Harnessing, Hydraulic System & Hosing, Cultivation Discs, RollFlex Packer Springs/Tongues, Tires, Tension Bushings & Hardware. * 200 Knutson St. SE Mapleton, ND 58059 * 855-4HORSCH * info.na@horsch.com * www.horsch.com PN 04599212 Ver. 1.2 06/20/2014
