Presentations are delivered by both academic and professional staff at LSBU, for example, Professor Pat Bailey, Deputy ViceChancellor of LSBU will be presenting 'Why Choose LSBU?' at 11am and 12.30pm in the Events Theatre, Keyworth Building*. Professor Pat Bailey will also be available for an informal 'meet the DVC' session at 11.45am and 1.30pm upstairs in the Student Centre. With the latest simulation equipment and technology, our students spend a significant part of their studies in our state-ofthe art interactive clinical skills labs—learning and developing the practical skills they will need when they go on clinical placement. Take a tour of the Perry Library facilities. Visit the specialist labs, photographic studio and edit suites of LSBU’s Arts and Media Centre. Ask questions about the activities and equipment available to students. Experience first-hand LSBU’s model-making and prototyping workshops for wood, polymer, metal (including a welding bay) and, most excitingly, a rapid prototyping centre with 3D printers and laser cutters. Tour the Civil Engineering and Building Services Labs, and CEREB (Centre for Efficiency & Renewable Energy in Buildings). Meet the Lab Technicians and LSBU PhD students who will be on hand to answer some of your more tricky questions. Tours depart at 12noon and 1.30pm from K405, Keyworth. There is no need to book as tours run every 20 minutes throughout the day. We also have an on-site Management Team and Student Residential Assistants who are dedicated to the wellbeing and security of all residents. One of the primary aims of the building was to create a space where the Students' Union and university support services could co-exist and give all students access to a wide range of non academic facilities that may be of use during their studies. University support services offer specialised advisory services to help you get the most from your time at University. If you need assistance with something, want to get more involved with university life, or just need someone to talk to, then student services can help. We work with employers to make sure we have vacancies in all industries and at all levels so we’re confident that we will be able to help students, whatever their interest. To make sure students are ready for their post-university careers, we also help find work placements, get a mentor, take part in volunteering, polish up interview skills and show them how to use social and professional networks to help in their job search. More and more, employers value the things students do at university alongside the degree, as well as the qualification itself, and we are determined to make sure students have plenty to put on their CV.
