Dawn Parnell, Executive Director of Communications 903.262.1064 October 8, 2014 For Immediate Release News Release Tyler ISD Students Qualify for Duke Talent Identification Program Tyler – The Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) recently selected 110 seventh grade students from Tyler ISD middle schools to participate in its 2014-2015 Talent Search. Current seventh grade students who achieved a score in the 95th percentile or higher on one or more recent grade-level state exams in math, reading or science are qualified to participate in the sixteen-state regional academic program. The Duke TIP is the largest program of its kind in the nation. Qualified students are invited to register and test for the ACT or SAT college entrance exam as seventh graders, allowing them greater insight into their academic abilities and opportunities. Many seventh grade Talent Search participants earn exceptionally high scores. Since its inception in 1980, over 2 million students have participated in a Duke TIP Talent Search.
