Happening at North Walhalla Deacons for 2014-2015 Wayne Deaton, Ronnie Finley, Chris Grant, Anthony Holbrooks, Raymond Loudermilk, and David Williamson are our deacons for this church year. Please keep them in your prayers as we strive to find the will and direction of the Lord for North Walhalla as we move forward together. Church Work Day There will be a church work day on this Friday, October 17. More details to follow. Teen Talent Kick-Off Meeting There will be a kick-off meeting this evening for teen talent which will be coming up February 20-21. The meeting will be at 5:00pm in the Youth Sanctuary. This will be an informational meeting to let you know the categories in which you can participate. You must be 13 by the date of teen talent to participate. Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting. Scheduled for Surgery or a Medical Procedure? Due to the continued growth of the church and for us to take better care of you, we are needing to make a change in our surgery/hospital policy. If you are having a scheduled surgery/procedure please contact the church office (telephone or email) and let the administrative assistant, Lisa, know the date and the time of the procedure so we can better serve you and your family with care. Joy at Heart Senior Adults The Joy at Heart Senior Adults will meet on November 4 at 6:00pm in the fellowship hall. Be sure to plan on being at this meeting and potluck meal, as Pastor Scottie will be our special guest. Also, Jay Winstead has asked us to help donate bags for middle school students with travel size shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Please give these items to Romelle Loudermilk or Lisa Addis by Wednesday night, October 15. Chili Cook Off and Cake Auction We will be having our annual chili cook off on Sunday night, November 16th, beginning at 6:00pm in the fellowship hall. There will also be a cake auction that night. The entry fee for a chili pot is $20.00 and there is no charge for a cake. If you are interested in putting in a pot of chili or a cake see Rory Jones! All the proceeds go toward our World Missions projects! May the best chef or cheater win! Fellowship Hall The fellowship hall will be closed October 13 -18 for all gatherings in order to prepare for Homecoming Nursery Care Ministry If you would like to be added to the nursery care list, please see Terri Addis. Parents are encouraged to participate. 100th HOMECOMING Next Sunday we will celebrate 100 years of ministry here at North Walhalla. Many former pastors will be in attendance, along with the State Overseer, the General Overseer, our State Senator, and many other guests, on this special day. Please invite family and friends of the church to come and worship with us as we celebrate the blessings of the Lord on this church. Bring a well-filled basket and stay for lunch. The church will provide some meat (fried chicken, chicken strips, and ham) and you bring the rest and we will have a good day! Pathfinders Those going on the retreat please note your second deposit of $70/person is due today. Please make checks payable to North Walhalla and give to April or Anthony Holbrooks. Also, the pathfinders group will be taking monetary donations to go toward Harvesting Hope Thanksgiving food bags that will be handed out to the needy in the community. Please see April or Anthony Holbrooks for details. Matthew 25:45 100th HOMECOMING SCHEDULE There will be NO Sunday School on our scheduled Homecoming. Worship will begin at 10:00am with everyone in the sanctuary. If you are a veteran or know one who is affiliated with North Walhalla, please contact Wayne Deaton or Lisa Addis. Information needed includes name, branch of service, and a photo in uniform, if possible. All photos must be turned in by October 29 to be included in the video presentation. The photos will be returned to you as soon as possible. Job Fair There will be a job fair on October 17 at North Georgia Technical College (8980 GA Hwy 17 S in Toccoa) from 12:00pm – 3:00pm. Bring resume, be prepared for interview, and dress appropriately. Please see Wayne Deaton for information. Save the Date for Our Community Fall Festival Outreach! Fall is here, and it's time for our annual Community Fall Festival! We have scheduled this festival for Wednesday, October 29, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. This is a fun-filled outreach event is for all ages! We will serve free hot dog plates, drinks, and desserts for everyone. We will have several blowups for the kids. Trunk or Treat will begin at 7:15pm. If you attended last year, you know what a blessing it was to see so many from our community in attendance. We hope everyone will come together and take this opportunity to fellowship with friends and become the church to those in need. ***There will be a Trunk or Treat competition for the best trunk! First Place $50.00, Second Place $25.00, Third Place $10.00. Sign up on the table in the foyer. Now Hiring Fall Festival Workers / Candy Donations The Fall Festival cannot be successful without your help! This is a great opportunity to reach out to and fellowship with our community members. If you are willing to give of your time, please see one of the following coordinators: Anthony Holbrooks, Russell Baldwin, Denise Godwin, Kenny Nicholson, or Romelle Loudermilk. If you would like to donate food or candy please see Anthony Holbrooks or Rhonda Addis. Children's Church Competition Is Underway AGAIN!!! Will the winner be the girls, or the boys? We are having our annual food battle to assist the Pathfinder's Sunday School class with feeding our community for Thanksgiving. From now until November 2nd our kids will be challenged to bring boxes of stuffing and canned green bean donations. The winners will be pleased with the results! Please help support our kids as we look forward to helping those in need.
