SENIORS: Don’t forget that Josten’s will be at NPHS Thursday, October 9th and Friday, October 10th
during lunch in the Quad, this is a SENIOR 2-DAY SPECIAL! Order your Senior Ring on any of these
dates and your cap, gown and tassel are FREE (this excludes p-rings)! You MUST bring a copy of your
ring summary on one of the 2 days. Come by Activities or the Student Store to get an informational kit on
rings or go to www.jostens .com to design your ring. Don’t miss out on this great-savings opportunity!
SENIORS: Don’t forget to submit your art work for Senior sweatshirts and T-Shirts to Ms. Barra in D-10
or Ms. McGee in F-4.

TEACHERS: Don’t forget to give your aspiring students who score 100% or higher on their test a ticket
for a chance to be named the next Purrrfect Panther. This is a drawing once a month!
FRONT DESK: Reminder to all students, no instruments or sports, including cheer equipment will be
allowed to be dropped off or stored in the lobby. We will not be responsible for them. You must make
arrangements before the start of school to store these in a class.
PANTHER TV: Did you miss the last episode of Panther TV or did you love it so much that you want to
see it again? Well you’re in luck. It is broadcast on Conejo TV! Verizon Fios subscribers tune to channel
32, Time Warner channel is 99-225, AT&T watch on channel 99 and Charter Cable on channel 59. Happy
viewing!
ATTENTION ALBERTSON SHOPPERS!: Help support The Girl Scouts of Newbury Park by donating
your extra stamps now through December 25th. Stamps can be dropped off in the box located in the front
office.
GOT CLOTHES?: Claudia’s Closet is a non-profit organization providing clothes to underserved teens.
Imagine not being able to participate in Sports, Homecoming, Winter Formal, Prom or Graduation because
you cannot afford the right clothing. Please donate gift cards, clothing shoes and much more. Whether you
are in need or want to schedule a donation, call or text Claudia’s closet at 805-300-1014.
LOST & FOUND: Students are responsible for checking the lost and found located in front of the office
outside the Counseling doors for any misplaced items. Please note that all found wallets, electronics and
jewelry should be turn into the Receptionist in the front office. All items not claimed will be donated at the
end of every month.
SCHOOL CENTS IS EARNING FOR OUR SCHOOL! There are so many ways to earn points for your
school. Bring all your receipts from September 1st until April 30th from store such as Bericup, Coffee Bean
& Tea, La Salsa, Subway, Panda Express, Hot Dog on A Stick, etc. Bring your receipts to the front office
or take them over to the customer service kiosk at the Oaks Mall located near the Cheesecake Factory. If
you would like your receipts back, just put a note on your envelope or the envelopes we provide in the
office and we will be sure to return them to you!
At What’s Coming Up!
PREPARE FOR THE NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER SAT: Enroll in our District’s SAT Prep
Workshop at Conejo Valley Adult School. Come by the office to pick up an informational flier about the
workshop, which will cover SAT math, critical reading, usage and writing will be covered, along with
specific SAT test-taking strategies. The SAT Prep Workshop is open to seniors and juniors. The flier gives
information about how to register for the workshop online, by phone or in person.
CONEJO VALLEY COMMUNITY FORUM: Invites you to “Teens Talk About Rx Abuse And
Heroin”. This is a free event on Wednesday, October 15th from 6:30-9PM at the Hillcrest Center in
Thousand Oaks.
DANCE BOOSTERS: Invites you to Dancing with the Star Panthers on Friday, October 10th at 7PM in
the NPHS Gym. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $20 for VIP. Presales tickets will be sold on
Wednesday and Thursday of next week on the quad during lunch or through any dance team member and
box office. Sales begin one hour before performance. Special guest and celebrity guest artist will be
present. Make sure to come to vote for your favorite hip hop crew!

THE AWARD-WINNING NEWBURY PARK HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL MUSIC DEPARTMENT
will hold its Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on Friday, October 17, 2014, in the Newbury Park High
School Cafeteria located at 456 Reino Rd. in Newbury Park. The Annual Spaghetti Dinner is open to the
public. Dinner will be served from 6:00 to 8:30PM. Entertainment will be provided by Conejo Barbershop
groups, and NPHS Choral Department students. There will also be Auction Baskets, Door Prizes, and a
Raffle. Tickets are $10 for Adults, $8 for Students and Senior Citizens, and $5 for Children ages 5 and
under. All proceeds from this event will support the department’s annual Heritage Festival trip, which will
be held in April 2015 in Seattle. Tickets can be purchased from any NPHS Choir member or at the door.
NPMTBC: Newbury Park Mountain Bike Club meets in Mr. Atkins every other Wednesday. Join us!
DRAMA CLUB: This Friday at lunch in G-2 there will be a meeting for the 2nd Annual Zombie Run. If
you’re interested in participating as Zombie, makeup artist, or even just to help out, you must attend this
meeting. Don’t miss out on this year’s Zombie Run, so remember come to G-2 at lunch!
FHA HERO: Our members are selling cookbooks as a fundraiser, Everyday Italian and 30 Minutes or Less
can be purchased from our members for $10 each. Please support FHA-HERO and purchase a cookbook.
ASG: Come to the quad at nutrition on Halloween for a costume contest! The person with the best costume
will receive a gift card. Teachers also have the opportunity to compete for your own prize during lunch.
Make sure you all come to watch!
ASG: ASG will be holding a Backpack Drive from Wednesday, October 1st to Wednesday, October 15th.
Bring new and used backpacks to the designated box in the office. All donations will go to the children at
Casa Pacifica.
CSF: The California Scholarship Federation meets the first Tuesday of each month at lunch in room D-29.
RECYCLING CLUB: Is earning money for NPHS clubs and sports! Make sure to recycle your cans and
bottles in the bins across campus. Applications for monthly earnings can be found in Mrs. Barker’s office.
Please do not throw trash in the bins designated for recycling.
G.S.A.: The Gay-Straight Alliance meets every Friday at lunch in room B2. Please join us, everyone is
welcome!
G.S.A.: The Gay-Straight Alliance is sponsoring the Halloween H-two outreach throughout the month of
October. Please bring donations of toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap and other hygiene products to room B-2.
Donations will be given to the homeless and HIV patients in Ventura County. This is our public service
drive- please help!
NPHS BAND: Join the NPHS Band Boosters for their 1st Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, October
25th at 7AM. Please visit www.NPHSBand.org for more information.
INTERACT CLUB: Invites you to join them every Monday at lunch in the GAR.
AMERICAN COMPUTER SCIENCE LEAGUE CLUB: Come join computer Science Club to learn
and show off your problem solving skills, and compete in the ACSL competition! Meet us on Tuesdays in
room E2.
HOSA: Join HOSA! We meet on Wednesday in D8 and are the go-to club for the future doctors and
nurses, so make sure to join HOSA!
AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY: Welcomes you to meet with them every other Friday. Refreshments
provided.
PEOPLE TO PEOPLE: Next summer you could see London on a People to People student trip. Join
Agoura Hills, CA students and teachers at the November 15th meeting to learn more. See Mrs. Alvarez in
room E5 or visit PTPRSVP.com for details. By attending the meeting, you could help our school win
$4,500!
BIG ANSWERS CLUB: Come to C25 on Wednesdays at lunch to be part of a group that will be tackling
some of LIFE’S BIGGEST, AND MOST DIFFICULT QUESTIONS. Bring your lunch…treats will be
provided! See you in C25 on Wednesday.
DRAMA CLUB: Come join us every Tuesday during lunch in room G-2.
SPEECH & DEBATE: Come join Speech and Debate! It meets every Wednesday at lunch in Mrs.
Altmire’s room D-20 upstairs in the D building.
FCA: Fellowship of Christian Athletes is meeting next Tuesday in room E-10, see you on Tuesday in room
E-10 for FCA!
FRENCH CLUB: French Club meets during lunch in B-29. Join us!
SPORTS
FOR ALL BOYS INTERESTED IN PLAYING SOCCER: There will be a meeting on Wednesday,
October 15th at lunch in room T-3. Remember, this is a late start day and lunch will be at 12:15. The coach
will have important information about tryouts and team participation.
NEWBURY PARK BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION 2014-2015 REGISTRATION continues at
www.npbasketball.org. Save $25 by registering your player online by October 31st (non Boys High School
Division) and November 15th (Boys High School Division). Fees after those dates increase to $190 (non
Boys High School Division) and $205 (Boys High School Division). The additional fee for Boys High
School Division covers paid scorekeepers and timekeepers for each game. Your registration fees do not
cover a nominal convenience service charge (last year it was about $5) that PayPal will charge you directly.
