Overnight accommodations are at the Sheraton At The Falls. Workshops are scheduled across the street at the Niagara Falls Conference Center. Our committee has done an outstanding job of coordinating workshop, general speakers and special evening events throughout the conference This year, CAYSA has chosen Kaely’s Kindness Foundation to be the recipient of our “CAYSA Cares” project for 2014. Their mission is to provide acts of kindness to teen girls touched by cancer, assisting them with their emotional, physical and practical needs. Acts of kindness include: gifts to teens, makeovers, support groups and social events to increase socialization of girls touched by cancer. While in Niagara Falls visit Americans Oldest Park, dine at the Savor Restaurant, run by students enrolled at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute during the hours of 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. View the illuminated dynamic marvels of nature between the hours of 7 p.m. and 12 a.m. nightly. Anyone who takes advantage of the Early Bird Registration will be included in a drawing for a two night stay during this year’s conference. In addition, we will again do a second drawing for free registration to next year’s CAYSA Conference being held at High Peaks Resort, Lake Placid, October 27-29, 2015. Please join us and your CAYSA friends for three days of outstanding workshops, speakers, facility tours, vendors, entertainment and networking October 15-17. Synthetic Drugs An informative session providing current trends that relate to synthetic drugs. 2. Savvy Social Security Planning: What Baby Boomers Need to Know to Maximize Retirement Income This workshop will include five factors to consider when deciding when to apply for benefits and how to coordinate Social Security with your other sources of retirement income including NYS Deferred Compensation. 3. Human Trafficking Participants will learn the definitions of human trafficking and the elements of the crime. Examples of human trafficking and how it occurs in our communities will be shared. New trends and red flag indicators that can assist law enforcement to combat this horrific crime will also be shared. 4. Trauma-Informed Care: Creating an Awareness Perspective Trauma-informed care is an approach to engaging people with histories of trauma that recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role that trauma has played in their lives. Determining Your Success This session will include a presentation on “What’s the one thing that will determine your success”, followed by a workshop on the Two Invaluable Laws of Growth. (It is recommended, but not mandatory, that participants read at the least the first two laws from the book The 15 Invaluable Laws of Success by John Maxwell.) 3 2. Sex Offender 101 An overview of SORA, Registration and Risk level procedures, sex offender obligations, duties of the Board of Examiners and the risk assessment process. 3. DOCCS K-9 Unit Come and meet the DOCCS K-9 Unit! This informational workshop will provide an overview of DOCCS K-9 Unit. 4. What’s My Communication Style? This workshop will provide insight into our everyday communications with others. This assessment helps participants understand the various forms of communication and learn how to “flex” their own personal style to improve communication. 5. Providing Leadership Techniques for the Workplace Looking to move up in the organization? What are the qualities that are important for you to take steps to develop skills for self-improvement, team building, expanding your roles and responsibilities. What leadership style are you and how can you effectively employ it to your advantage. 6.
