PhD Thesis
title Dynamical Instabilities in Quantum Many-Body Systems
supervisor Prof. R. Fazio
description The thesis addresses the problem of the nonequilibrium time-evolution of many-body sistems
realized with quantum simulators. We investigate theoretically the relation between the timeevolution and the equilibrium phase diagram in the presence of a quantum phase transition.
Master Thesis
title Quantum Chaos with Ultracold Atoms in Optical Lattices
supervisors Prof. R. Mannella and Dr. S. Wimberger
description We study a single particle model in a periodically pulsed optical lattice and the many-body
regime in a tilted potential. Complex dynamical evolution manifests in a strong sensitivity of
the experimental observables to slight changes of the system’s parameters.
