Construction has been completed in the United Arab Emirates of ADNOC Headquarters,
one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers. The building houses the operations of the Abu Dhabi
National Oil Company. The Intellect PSIM, developed by AxxonSoft, was selected to coordinate
and manage security needs at this very high-profile site.
CLIENT
The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) is the largest
oil company in the UAE and fourth-largest in the world. At 342
meters, ADNOC Headquarters is the second-tallest building in Abu
Dhabi. The complex includes 78 stories and a total built-up area of
approximately 190,000 square meters.
CHALLENGE
ADNOC Headquarters is located in a prestigious area of Abu
Dhabi, near the Emirates Palace hotel. Security was high on the
agenda for the project. To address the ongoing security challenge,
the client selected AxxonSoft Intellect, which provides the software
“glue” for combining and automating key building systems:
• Inside/outside parking and entrances
• Private areas
• Tower offices
• Technical and maintenance areas

The intercom system interfaces with Intellect via SIP
(Session Initiation Protocol). So when an intercom call is made,
the nearest camera automatically begins streaming video
to security staff in real time. Intercom conversations can be
recorded and synchronized with camera video as well.
SOLUTION
Intellect is installed on 48 servers, providing ample capacity for nonstop collection and analysis of data from over 1,600 cameras around
the skyscraper and adjacent areas. Camera video is monitored at
eight surveillance centers.
Multilayer proactive protection of ADNOC Headquarters is made possible by the extended feature set of Intellect: real-time video surveillance,
archival video, video analytics, automated license plate recognition, and
integration with third-party software (Hirsch, TOA).
One of the key project requirements was monitoring of vehicles entering/
leaving the headquarters area. A three-step verification process was designed to eliminate the risk of vehicular threats. During the first step, the
underside of a vehicle is verified visually; the results are transmitted to Intellect via Hirsch. Then the vehicle’s license plate is scanned and compared
with the “go” and “no go” lists of vehicles in the database. During the last
step, the system reads the vehicle’s RFID tag and transmits the results to
Intellect via Hirsch. If all three steps are completed successfully, Intellect
gives the signal to open the vehicle gate. Any failure or non-match during
the process generates an alarm for the on-duty security staff. Staff then
decide whether to confirm the alarm and block vehicle access, or enter the
vehicle’s information into the database and allow access. For VIP visitors,
verification steps can be selectively applied to speed up the process.

RESULTS
The result is an integrated security system that offers interlocking 24/7
protection of the entire headquarters area, safeguarding the building, visitors, and vehicles. Thanks to the Intellect-powered system, the
client’s needs for security at the headquarters of the largest oil company in the United Arab Emirates have been fully met in a robust and
scalable way.
