REGIONAL ASSOCIATION VI WORKING GROUP ON TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION FIRST MEETING 6 - 7 November 2014 Offenbach am Main, Germany Information note on local arrangements – INF.1 Background The RA VI Working Group on Technology Development and Implementation was reestablished at the sixteenth session of RA VI, held in September 2013, in Helsinki, Finland. The Terms of References are stipulated in the Resolution 9 of the RA VI XVI session report: http://library.wmo.int/opac/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=16072#.VCwQ3_mSwXt. The core-membership of the Working Group was approved by the Management Group at its second meeting in May 2014, Tallinn, Estonia. Meeting format It is planned as one and half day meeting to start at 09:00 on 6 November and to end at noon on 7 November. Registration of participants will take place half an hour before the beginning of the opening session, i.e. at 08:30. The meeting will accommodate the following five sessions: I. II. III. IV. V. Requirements to participants The Task Team leaders and Rapporteurs are kindly requested to bring their own laptops and deliver presentations on the goals, tasks, expected achievements/ deliverables and membership of the Team. Further information on the city of Offenbach can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offenbach_am_Main To plan your trip from Frankfurt Airport please search for the Pictogram of the airport rail terminals which are located in front of Terminal 1. There two rail terminals one for local & regional departures (“Regionalbahnhof”) and one for further distance trains (“Fernbahnhof”). It is important, that you go to “Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof” which is located in the basement of Terminal 1. You have to buy your ticket from a ticket machine before boarding the train. Ticket machines are located in the rail terminal hall and on the platform. Usually the machines in the hall are more flexible and accept several credit cards. You can change to several foreign languages on the display of the ticket machine. You have to type in your destination “Offenbach Ledermuseum” or you can choose it from a selection on the display. Then you have to choose adult & single ticket. The ticket price is currently 4,35 €. The trains are leaving from platform 1: direction Frankfurt City (“Gleis 1: Richtung Frankfurt”). You have to go down one escalator to reach the platform. You can take any city train (SBahn) from the lines S 8 or S 9. “Offenbach Ledermuseum” is the 10th stop after the airport. Travel time is about 30 Min. You can inquire your connections in advance from the website www.rmv.de. On the first line of this website you can also select several foreign languages. However, the stations names are only given in German. Simultaneous translation will not be available. Technical facilities: Facilities in the meeting room comprise a PC / video projector and a video conference system. Internet access will be available via our Guest WLAN. The participants are kindly asked to bring their own laptops. Accompanying events: On Thursday evening a dinner will be organized in a typical restaurant nearby. On Friday afternoon an excursion for interested participants (e.g. to the Vineyard in the Rhine Valley) will be organized. For participants of this excursion it is necessary to schedule their flights back home on Saturday. Details will be provided at the meeting.
