2014 Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park Experimental Youth Deer Archery Hunting Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park 4480 Fort Lincoln Road Mandan ND 58554 701‐667‐6340 falsp@nd.gov Purpose Goal of this project is to manage and reduce the deer population for the protection of park resources. Provisions 1. Youth hunters must 17 years or younger and may have one non‐hunting partner with them. (Under 16 requires a parent or legal guardian present) 2. Season in the Park will be October 20th to the close of regular deer archery season January 4, 2015. Hunting will not be allowed Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays of October. Starting November 1 hunting will be allowed daily. 3. Special Park Permits are for up to 10 days with the option to renew. This permit is required and must be in possession. There is no charge for the special park permit. They are first come first serve and will be issued in person during office business hours, 8‐5 M‐F beginning October 13, 2014 or when staff is available. 4. Each hunter will be assigned a special hunting unit. Valid State Park entrance permit is required. 5. Valid ND Game and Fish deer archery tag and license must be in possession. 6. Any antlerless deer are permitted, no other hunting is allowed. 7. Park Manager may close or suspend season in the park at any time. Rules 1. All motorized vehicles are restricted to open roads and parking areas. This includes retrieving and transporting the harvested deer. 2. All North Dakota Parks and Recreation, Game and Fish, State or Federal provisions, laws, rules and regulations apply. Any violation of will result in immediate loss of privileges and enforcement action taken. 3. Best effort must be made to recover all arrows. 4. Driving, pushing or hazing deer is not permitted. 5. Hunters with physical limitations may request assistance for harvested deer retrieval from park staff prior to hunting. 6. Portable hanging or ladder stands and blinds are permissible. Park enforcement staff will inspect and approve prior to use. 7. Each hunter will be allowed 1 (one) stand or blind and must have the hunters name and phone number attached. All stands or blinds must be immediately removed at the expiration of special park permit or conclusion of archery season. 8. Permanent stands, steps, blinds or the use of nails, screws or staples are not allowed. Any violation will result in loss of privileges, removal and confiscation of equipment. 9. It is illegal to use and hunt over bait. 10. Orange clothing is required for deer bow hunters during deer gun and muzzleloader season. 11. Hunter must make reasonable attempt to recover harvested or wounded deer. 12. Field dressing of deer is not allowed in groomed areas of the park or campground. 13. Use of horses, mules or pack animal is not permitted. 14. Hunters are required to provide harvest information within 3 days of the conclusion of their hunt or permit expiration. Completed permits with harvest information can be deposited in self registration box at the park entrance station or mailed. Public Notice Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park is allowing youth deer bow hunting in the park on an experimental basis. The purpose is to reduce the deer population in order to protect the park resources and new tree and shrub plantings.  Deer archery season in the park will begin October 20th, 2014 and conclude January 4, 2015.  Throughout October, hunting will only be allowed Monday through Thursday.
