One Day Money Conference - 16th October 2014
Your presenters
Christopher Sharp QC,
Call 1975, QC 1999
St John’s Chambers
Christopher is acknowledged by
Chambers UK as one of only 4
star Silks in Family Law in the
country and the only one
outside London, and he is in
constant demand. He is widely
known for his expertise in high-value financial
remedy, ToLATA and Schedule 1 cases, including
those with a foreign element, many of which are
dealt with by way of negotiated settlements. His
experience in personal injury work also translates to
cases involving catastrophic injury to one partner
where financial complexities in subsequent divorce
proceedings surround the damages awarded. He
regularly appears in the appellate courts. He sits as a
Recorder and Deputy High Court Judge.
Nick Miller, Call 1994
St John’s Chambers
Nick has specialised
exclusively in ancillary relief
for over 20 years. Prior to
joining the Bar in 1994, Nick
was a Solicitor and a partner
in a Bristol firm. He was a
founder member of the SFLA (now Resolution) and
secretary of the Bristol SFLA for ten years . Nick is
described by Chambers UK as having a great deal of
experience in complex matrimonial finance matters.
“He is extremely reassuring with clients but
absolutely formidable in cross-examination.”
Zoe Saunders, Call 2003
St John’s Chambers
Zoë has a particular
interest in ToLATA
disputes and is often asked
to advise both in writing
and in conference as well
as acting in disputed cases
in the High Court, County Court and before the
land registry adjudicator. Zoë has particular
expertise in cases involving ToLATA and
applications under Schedule 1 of the Children
Act 1989. Zoë also has experience of contested
probate and inheritance issues in which her
experience in applications for financial remedies on
divorce is often extremely valuable. Zoë has expertise
in cases involving multiple properties, trusts, complex
pensions and insolvency as well as both big and
small money cases and the particular challenges
presented by each. Zoë has also been asked to advise
in relation to professional negligence issues arising
from financial remedy proceedings.
Andrew Commins, Call 2004
St John’s Chambers
Andrew specialises in all
matters of family finance
including financial remedies on
divorce or the dissolution of
civil partnerships, cohabitation
disputes, Schedule 1
applications and related professional negligence
claims. Andrew is also a qualified mediator (Family
Mediators Association). Andrew has experience of
cases involving farming partnerships, trusts,
bankruptcy, companies, nuptial agreements,
inherited wealth, allegations of conduct and
disabilities. “Andrew is admired for his polished
advocacy skills, technical ability and brilliant
attention to detail.” Chambers UK, Family (2014)
David Birkett BSc DipFA, Partner,
Crystal Wealth Management LLP
David has worked in Financial
Services for over 26 years. Prior to
