Aero Mobile Terminal 5230 Ka-band Satellite Broadband for Large Cabin Aircraft
Aero Mobile Terminal 5230 Ka-band Satellite Broadband for Large Cabin Aircraft HIGH-SPEED INTERNET ACCESS FOR IN-FLIGHT CONNECTIVITY GROWING, CHANGING SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS Broadband connectivity at 35,000 feet is growing in several dimensions. More aircraft are installing onboard broadband systems, more data is being consumed while in-flight, and the expectation for service network performance is increasing. Only ViaSat, by leveraging our leadership in Ka-band satellite technology, is poised to respond to the simultaneous growth in mobile devices and bandwidth demanded by passengers. The ViaSat Aero Mobile Terminal 5230 is an integral part in bringing high-speed internet service to large cabin and select long-range business jets. The terminal, comprised of a small antenna, modem and antenna control unit integrates into the aircraft’s cabin network and communicates on our network of ViaSat and partner Ka-band satellites. HIGHLY-DIFFERENTIATED IN-FLIGHT EXPERIENCE ViaSat has revolutionized in-flight internet with a highlydifferentiated service that eclipses the speed and quality of other in-cabin services. The service launched on commercial airlines in 2013 and is coming to general aviation. It is designed to meet the drastically increasing demand for data, driven by new applications. In addition to everyday web browsing, email, and corporate VPN access, passengers can make VoIP calls, stream music and videos, conduct video conferences, and much more.
