Condolences
We extend our sympathies to Margaret and Brad McGregor in the passing of Margaret’s
mother last week.
Centennial Celebrations
A huge thank you to all who were part of the organising, catering, music, sound and data,
welcoming, registrations, practical helps, photo and memorabilia displays, building
preparation and cleaning for the Centennial last weekend. You did a massive job, that has
been very well received. The feedback has been amazing. We are grateful for the way in
which the Lord’s grace was on the whole weekend. He really did touch a number of people.
Videos will be available shortly, more details to come.
Equip
Who is a disciple of Jesus? Why would I want to be a disciple of Jesus? How does the Holy
Spirit help? These are some questions in the two topics in next week’s Equip training time
on Wednesday night, 5 November, 7:00pm at the manse. The first hour will focus on being
a disciple of Jesus, and the second hour around the person of God the Holy Spirit.
Vision Sunday
On Sunday morning, 23 November, we will do a shorter service, and then spend some time
focusing on vision 2015. We will move into groups or four or five, to first of all pray, and
then to write down on paper our hopes, dreams, and visions that we believe the Lord is
giving to us as a church family. With the hall building taking shape, 2015 on the horizon,
and Elliott finishing at the end of the year, the Leadership Team want to hear from you.
The Leadership Team will meet the following Tuesday and then give feedback the next
Sunday. Please pray in advance and together let’s trust the Lord to make our vision for
2015 clear.
BMF
BMF will meet this Tuesday, 4 November at 1.30pm at 4a Preston Street.
All welcome to meet and pray for mission!
‘faces’ magazine
The first paper edition of the new Canterbury Westland Baptist Association magazine called
‘Faces’ should be here next Sunday. Keep your eye out for it. Their editor was with us on
Saturday but probably won’t get anything in this issue about our centennial.
Café
Café will resume in the Manse from about 15 minutes after the service today. Tea and
coffee will also be available in the Foyer area after the service.
OMF Morning Tea
In anticipation of celebrating 150 years since Hudson Taylor went to China and formed the
China Inland Mission (later became Overseas Missionary Fellowship) in 1865, a Morning
Tea event is being held on Friday 7 November (this Friday) at 10am at Wilson St Baptist
Manse. Any interested people are welcome to attend. Special speakers are Dr David Harley,
who has been a past general director of OMF and Principal at All Nations College in England
and Singapore Bible College, along with his wife Rosemary who is co-author of a book on
cross-cultural witness "Who is my Neighbour?" They will share insights on mission
involvement and prayer. More information is on the notice board. Please RSVP to Elsie
McDonald phone 684 8466.
Praise Be 2015
Terry Kennedy has invited members of all Baptist Churches in the area to be involved in the
‘Mass Choir’ for the Praise Be television programme series in February and March next year
at the Sacred Heart Basilica. He also extends the invitation to any civic or church groups
which may be worth recording separately. Anyone who is interested please contact Terry
as soon as possible either by phone on 684 4070 or by email tkpromo@hotmail.com.
The musical director is Rosie Staite.

Hope project - update
Copies of the Hope Project booklet have been distributed throughout Timaru,
communicating the Gospel and Bicentennial of the Gospel. Please pray for our community
so that when people receive the booklets, they will be well received and read. Pray also for
opportunities to chat with people you know about the booklets. Please check out
www.alltogether.co.nz and www.10daychallenge.co.nz/#1 – the latter being a guide for
people to explore the message of Jesus further.
