About The IPR Workshop
Intellectual Property Right (IPR) plays a vital role in enhancing the socio-economic prosperity of
the country. Creativity and innovation are new drivers of the world economy. With the increasing
relevance of Intellectual Property (IP) in this era of globalization, it is important to recognize
the role which IP systems play in the growth of the Nation. Thus, there is a need to create
large public awareness about the pivotal role of IPR in globalized knowledge economy. With
the view to create awareness on the significance of IPR to the people from various sectors in
the Country, ITM University Gwalior is organizing a one day Workshop on Intellectual Property
Rights at University Campus. The Workshop is intended to cover various aspects of IPR like
Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, etc. The technical sessions will be lead by the speakers having
thorough knowledge in the subject who have been practicing in the field for many years. The
expected participants of the program include Scientists, Research Scholars, Small & Medium
Enterprise (SME) and Grass Root Innovators.
Objective
As a punch line of ITM University “Celebrating Dreams” in Engineering, it is the key to protect
innovations using available Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in order to benefit the society and
minimizing the risk of valuable ideas remain on the shelf. The current global economic crisis is
also focusing on renewed attention on the urgent need to incentivize and protect innovation to
both solve the world’s most challenging problems and to generate jobs and economic growth.
The power to evolve innovations and think in an innovative manner in an organizations can be
increased by means of creating Intellectual Property (IP) awareness amongst its employees
and students, who are directly or indirectly involved in the process of innovation. The one day IP
awareness workshop aims at establishing a basic level of IP awareness amongst the workshop
participants, such that the chances of obtaining well-protected innovation (Patents) for their
organizations are increased. This workshop would focus on
• Importance and scope of IPR in Academic Researches.
• Types of innovations patentable & how to test your patentability of your innovations.
• Procedure of patent writing, patent filing and the process of granting patent.

ITM School of Engineering & Technology is one of the flagship and leading
schools of central and north India. The basic intent of the school is to impart
quality education at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral research levels.

About Gwalior
Gwalior is a historical city in the heart of India, situated in the State of Madhya Pradesh, 120 Km from
Agra (The city of Taj Mahal) and 317 Km from Delhi. It is well connected with Delhi, Bhopal, Mumbai,
Bangalore and Hyderabad by train and road, and by air from Delhi and Mumbai. Gwalior, known as city
of music, has perhaps the richest musical tradition among all the cities in this great country starting from

recognized as one the nine jewels of Emperor Akbar’s court. Most famous and memorable landmarks

Tansen and museums. Agra, the city of Taj, is 110 Kms from Gwalior and 1.5 hours journey by express
trains. The world famous Khajuraho group of temples, depicting all facets of life, are 4 hours journey by
road. Mitawali & Padavali has a group of 108 ruins of temples and is 20 Kms from Gwalior. Orchha is 100
Kms from Gwalior and is a treat for weekend trips as the village still carries old time feel with palaces,
temples, cenotaphs and ruins along the banks of Betwa River.
