DATES TO REMEMBER 7 November 8 November 10 November 11 November 12 November 14 November 21 November 05/11/14 Flower Show PA Bus Trip PA Meeting School Athletics 9yrs and over Orini Sports Day Tima Tahi Sharing Assembly Tima Rua Sharing Assembly Dear Parents/Caregivers A BIG TERM FOR OUR PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION – LET’S GET IN BEHIND THEM All around the school there are tangible assets that have been made possible through community funding: both adventure play grounds, all the shade sails, two areas of artificial turf, dressing sheds and swimming pool solar heating; many of the classroom computers have been purchased with community funding also. I’m sure you’ll agree that these assets add considerable value to the experiences the students have at Horsham Downs School. This Saturday the PA embarks on the annual shopping trip to Auckland. We wish Helen Owens, Tracey Reynolds and the team all the best with their adventure. In three and a half weeks’ time is the GALA DAY, the PA’S biennial big fundraiser. Megan Owen heads the very busy and dedicated organising committee. Thanks to all the people who have dropped off items for the garage sale. Keep checking out the sign boards on the school fence for drop off times. Check out the notice about the GALA —next page. If you can support the organising committee in some way please don’t hesitate to contact: Megan Owen—027 426 6170, Karen Arden—027 578 1671 and Julie Rowe—021 799 377. They need a lot of helpers on the day. The teachers need more parent help with the class stalls; if you can help please talk to the relevant staff member. The Calendar Art which is on display at Flower Show this Friday is another PA venture which you can support. The order forms will be available in the hall on Friday—see below. GET WISE PROGRAMME Facilitators from the ASB Bank will be working with all classes over the next two weeks. The programme is free and encourages our young people to develop financial literacy. The content of the GetWise programme is mapped against the NZ curriculum and is designed with leading experts in primary education, financial literacy and cognitive development; so there is plenty of quality assurance around it. You might like to talk to your children about what they have learnt.
