Burlington Vicinage NOTICE OF ADVANCEMENT AND LATERAL TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY INTERNAL POSTING FOR BURLINGTON VICINAGE EMPLOYEES ONLY POSITION TITLE: Judiciary Clerk 3 Support Staff Band Level 3 - Journey (Classified) OPENING DATE: CLOSING DATE: November 13,,2014 November 26, 2014 MINIMUM SALARY: MAXIMUM SALARY: $37,467.31 $56,745.97** LOCATION: ANNOUNCEMENT: POSITION NO.: #BUR 2014-19 Family Division Burlington Vicinage 081679 POSITION DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Court Executive 2B (Family Division Manager) or other supervisory personnel, this position is responsible for the intake and docketing of matrimonial cases and reviewing documents to ensure sufficiency in the filing process. This individual interacts with attorneys and pro se litigants to obtain information needed to file and process matrimonial complaints and motions, and works closely with staff of the Finance Division to ensure the accurate collection of all filing and other fees. In addition, this person serves as the primary contact with Chambers for regards to the calendaring of all FM cases. Additional duties will include answering inquiries from the public; coding information or documents for entry into computer terminal; scheduling dates or times for conferences, hearings, trials, adjournments or “back-up” cases; verifying records or content of correspondence for completeness, clarity and accuracy; reviewing legal documents for completeness or accuracy; collecting fees or costs as directed by the court; explaining Judiciary policies or procedures to clients or customers; verifying financial transactions for accuracy; informing the Finance Division of account discrepancies; composing non-routine correspondence and explaining program eligibility requirements to clients or customers. This position performs support functions in a courtroom, such as operating sound or video recording equipment; completing detailed log sheets of recordings; recording courtroom activities such as daily attendance of jurors, dispositions of motions or discoveries, or verdicts from juries; marking exhibits; and swearing in witnesses. Performs related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS Open to employees in the Burlington who have an aggregate of one year of permanent service as of the announced closing date in the following career (classified) service title(s): Judiciary Clerk 2 Judiciary Clerk 3 Judiciary Account Clerk 1 Judiciary Account Clerk 2 EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in an office environment performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, transcribing information, reconciling balances or accounts, scheduling meetings or appointments. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADVANCEMENT: Eligibility is based upon the applicants having achieved all the competencies for advancement to Judiciary Clerk 3 as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form for this title. Applicants for advancement to the Judiciary Clerk 3 title are not required to take a New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional examination.
