A t Beacon Park, the Senior Men scored their first win in a Liverpool&District League race since 2008, curiously enough also at Beacon Park. True, the bulk of Liverpool Harriers and Southport Waterloo opted for the Mid Lancs League but we not only placed our 6 counters in the first twenty for 69pts, we also had 15 in the first 50 for a convincing win from LPS (87pts) and Liverpool Harriers (95pts). Phil Robertson led the Wirral charge in 4th, our highest individual place in the league since Matt Donnery’s 4th in 2010. Phil Langan (8th), Kev Buxton (11), Joe Johnson (12), David Brockway (15) and Dave Norman (19) completed the count. Tony Devoy showed a return to form in 20th with new captain, Simon Fox, in 22nd. Emily and Sarah Kearney were 2nd and 3rd ladies home behind Laura Quine (Liv Har). Sixteen Teams Close in the English CC Relays Pride of place among the sixteen Wirral teams that finished at Mansfield was the 12th place by the U13 Boys A team. Given a fine start by Casey Woodworth’s 5th on the opening lap, Tom Clark and Jacob Quarmby held on well, losing only 15 seconds on the 5th placed team. The B team finished 40th. The individual performance of the day came from James Taylor who was second on the first lap of the U17 Men. Alex McBain and Matthew Green brought the A team home in 23rd with the B T&F Awards for 2014 team 62nd. For the U15 Boys A team, Joe George Warburton Cup for the outstanding T&F performance. Wigfield picked up 14 places on the last lap as Emily Darroch (80mH, England U15, 2nd) * the team closed in 23rd. Less than 16 seconds Ability Squad Athlete of the Year : Chelsea Saunders covered the times of the runners in our B and C teams in this event, finishing 44th and 51st Age group awards out of 81 teams to close. Two teams finished Outstanding Athlete for U11 Girls Gina Nuttall in the Senior Mens race in 74th and 99th out Bill Taylor Award for U11 Boys Jonny Lloyd of the 171 that faced the starter, with Phil Hunt Shield for U13 Boys Harvey Darroch (LJ) * Robertson producing their fastest time on the Hunt Shield for U13 Girls Eve Mooney (HJ) * opening leg for the A team. Weston Trophy for U15 Boys Patrick Delaney (80mH) * Best plerformance among the seven fe- Waterson Plate for U15 Girls Emma Johnson (Shot) * James Taylor (1500m) * male teams taking part, was 20th by the U15 Hinds Cup for U17 Men Sophie Tarver (1500m) * A team. Following Juliet Hodder and Lucy Le Hinds Bowl for U17 Women Carroll Shield for Jun/Sen Men Sam Landsborough (100m) Feuvre, Krystina Martindale gained 11 places Bushell Cup for Jun/Sen Women Amy Tarver (HJ) on the last lap. The B team placed 63rd. Sophie Tarver came home 9th on the first lap Wellock Shield Eimear Corr of the U17 event, Nicola Harris and Aileen Gilbert Award Will Leising Kearney bringing them home in 27th. CatherEndeavour Vase and Plate Lauren Brett Pat Carr Shield Ieuan Kearney ine Spencer had a storming last leg for the Frank Lathom Plate Julie Money U13 Girls A team moving them up over 20 Phil Keenan Award Sophie Money places to 55th., with the B team 90th. The Sportshall Trophy Emma Rowlands U20 team of Emily Kearney, Heather Nuttall Athletes Choice Will Ferguson and Lauren Brett placed 30th and we finished a team for the first time in the Senior Women The starred winners, along with Casey Woodworth, Ben Lyon, in 77th place. Applicants should contact Leo Carroll or sign the notice in the Gatehouse by Dec 15th and will need to have represented the club in leagues or championships at least 3 times in 2014. If there are more qualifying applicants than places names, will be drawn from a hat before Christmas. CC Championships 2015 Coaches and team managers will have entry details for the three Cross Country Championships after Christmas within the next week. Young members wishing to be entered must let Pam Green (for the Boys) or Sarah Kearney (for the Girls) know and pay the entry fee either directly to them or through their coach before Christmas. Seniors should contact Sarah (Women ) or Simon Fox or Leo Carroll (Men). Note that only members who have paid the England Athletics registration fee for 2014-15 can be entered. It is not enough to have an EA number – this year’s fee must have been paid. Manchester Area CC League Fixture clashes with schools events for the first two matches reduced participation by Wirral runners. The U15 Boys came 5th at Stockport and 4th at Sherdley with Jonathan Head, Tom Rogers and Sam Tempest the counting three. The U13 Boys won at Sherdley with Jacob Quarmby (2nd ), Casey Woodworth (4th) and Tom Clark (10th). Individually Sophie Tarver was 2nd at Sherdley in the U17 Girls, as was Joe Fountain in the U11. In the U15 Girls, Krystina Martindale finished 4th at Stockport and 7th at Sherdley. Emily Kearney (13th and 17th) and Sarah Kearney (15th and 19th) were are leading finishers in the very large Womens fields – ove 200 in both races. Sarah was 2nd in the F40 age groupat both venues. Phils Robinson (4th) and Langan (5th) gave the count a good start supported Callum Seymour (12) and Mark Hulmston (13) and 4 more in the first 50. The Ladies were just edged into 3rd by Ellesmere Port, both well adrift of the winners Tattenhall. Sarah and Emily Kearney who had run in the Manchester league the previous day led them home in 2nd and 5th, with Heather Nuttall ( 23rd) and Caroline Brophy (38th) completing the count. Wirral 10K, Xavier Desse was first club finisher in 3rd (2nd M40) in a PB of 33m 05s. Joe Johnson (15th) and Simon Fox (23rd) took the first two M45 spots. Maria Brockway was first F50 and Ronnie Jones the leading M75. ♦ Kelvin Dickinson was 1st M40 in the Wirral Half Marathon in 1hr 19min 17sec,.
