Position Announcement Hospitality Management & Dietetics and Family & Consumer Sciences Western Kentucky University Position: Western Kentucky University is seeking candidates for a nine-month, tenure-eligible position in the Hospitality Management and Dietetics Program with a doctorate or non-tenure eligible at the instructor level without a doctorate. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications. Duties: The ideal candidate will be management-oriented and have the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses across the hospitality management curriculum, as well as systems management courses at the graduate level. Additional duties include: development and delivery of web-based courses; curriculum development; work with student organizations and relevant industry groups; promotion of the program; student advisement; community service; research; and participation on departmental, college, and university committees. Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management; Nutrition and Dietetics; or a related field. ABD and Masters level candidates will also be considered. The RD/RDN credential is required. Candidates must have two years industry experience in commercial food preparation and food service systems management. Department: The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences offers undergraduate concentrations in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management; Nutrition and Dietetics; Food, Nutrition, and Wellness; Family and Consumer Sciences Education; Child Studies, Family Studies; Interior Design; and Fashion Merchandising and an associate degree in Early Childhood Education. The Hospitality Management and Dietetics program also offers a 9-month Dietetics Internship as a graduate certificate. Seventeen full-time faculty members serve approximately 600 undergraduate majors in the department. Community: Bowling Green-Warren County area is one of the fastest growing communities in Kentucky with a population of approximately 120,000, and offers a superb physical setting and rich cultural environment. The city is located 65 miles north of Nashville, Tennessee, and 120 miles south of Louisville, Kentucky. Bowling Green offers that “college town” flavor, with the conveniences of a larger city.
